Automation Technician (Crosby, TX)



Summary:

In a manufacturing setting, we are looking to add a Automation Technician to our manufacturing team in Houston who will be responsible for engineering, testing, maintaining and supporting automation solutions.


Job Type: Full-time, permanent (Crosby, TX)


Schedule: Monday - Friday


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Program logic-controlled equipment to achieve production, quality, and safety expectations
  • Provide technical automation support during production breakdowns as well as new equipment installations, commissioning, retrofits and continuous improvement projects;

  • Assist in equipment malfunction investigation to increase equipment reliability by identifying root cause, determining corrective actions/preventative measures, and following up on any deviations;

  • Perform setup and calibration for process and control instrumentation such as: Flow meters, Temperature and Pressure transducers;

  • Determine and program parameters for variable frequency drivers and servo drives;

  • Install and commission new necessary instrumentation for additional data collection as per requests from Engineering and/or Operations team;

  • Maintain and continuously develop existing plant control systems;

  • Perform routine diagnostic checks on equipment, electrical panels, and control systems;

  • Research new industrial automation equipment, instruments, controls and materials available on the market for use in a manufacturing environment;

  • Follow all safety regulations, such as Arc Flash protection and use of Personal Protective Equipment;



Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in automation.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent technical degree and/or relevant experience;
  • Thorough understanding of PLCs, HMIs, including advanced programming techniques and configurations. (Experience with B&R Automation, Rockwell Automation and/or Automation Direct);
  • Knowledge of VFD & Servo Motor Control;
  • Knowledge of Industrial Networking. (EthernetIP, ModbusRTU, ModbusTCP, CanOpen, Powerlink);
  • Knowledge of Industrial Instrumentation - Level, Pressure, Flow, Temperature, Proximity Sensors, Reed Sensors, Laser Distance and Through-Beam Sensors;
  • Proficiency using MS office and other tools;
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work in a team environment as well as the ability to work unsupervised;
  • Must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with a great attention to detail;
  • A team player who constructively contributes to a positive environment;
  • Ability to speak, read and write English fluently.
