Join CAE’s Civil Aviation Regional Safety team as an Aviation Safety Officer (Non-Ab-Initio), supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of safety management processes. In this role, you will contribute to maintaining compliance with applicable regulatory frameworks by managing safety systems, identifying hazards, and minimizing operational risks. Responsibilities include supporting the Global Safety Management System (SMS), analyzing safety data and feedback to address deficiencies, and ensuring timely corrective actions. You will also support the achievement of Safety Performance Targets through structured planning and training initiatives, mentor personnel on safety practices, and participate in safety audits to maintain regulatory compliance and drive continuous improvement.

Description

  • Serve as Aviation Safety Officer (Non-Ab-Initio) within CAE’s Civil Aviation Regional Safety team in Orlando.
  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the Global Safety Management System (SMS) to identify hazards and minimize risks.
  • Support the development of a strong safety culture aligned with regulatory frameworks and organizational objectives.
  • Utilize safety feedback systems to identify deficiencies and ensure timely root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Manage and enhance SMS processes to mitigate corporate and operational risks.
  • Drive achievement of Safety Performance Targets through structured planning and safety training initiatives.
  • Mentor and support training center personnel to promote continuous safety improvement.
  • Plan and conduct annual safety audits to maintain compliance with applicable regulatory standards.
  • Support digital training and operational safety initiatives aligned with CAE’s mission.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience coordinating or supporting Safety Management Systems within aviation training organizations or airlines.
  • Strong knowledge of aviation regulatory frameworks (e.g., ICAO, Transport Canada, FAR, CASA, EASA, or other National Aviation Authorities).
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex safety, technical, and operational events and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the role, including:
    • Occasionally climbing ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, or poles.
    • Moving through tight or confined spaces as needed.
    • Remaining stationary (sitting or standing) for extended periods.
    • Occasionally lifting or adjusting items up to 50 lbs.
    • Frequent repetitive hand and wrist motions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current or previous holder of an ICAO-recognized Flight Crew License up to ATPL level.
  • Type Rating Instructor certification.
  • Experience mentoring or training personnel in safety practices and compliance environments.
  • Experience leading or participating in safety audits.
