Azure Cloud Engineer

Job Description: CloudEngineer – Cloud Migration (Grade 5)

Job Summary:

The Cloud Engineer isresponsible for the hands-on migration of on-premise virtual machines andinfrastructure workloads to Microsoft Azure. This role supports migrationexecution, validation, troubleshooting, and post-migration stabilization underthe guidance of the Technical Lead.

In addition, the roleoperates within a managed services environment, ensuring operational stabilityby proactively monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving incidents acrossinfrastructure and cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities

VMMigration Execution

· Perform hands-onmigration of virtual machines from on-premise environments to Azure using AzureMigrate and related tools.

· Support migrationactivities including discovery, assessment, replication, testing, and cutover.

· Execute migrationstrategies such as rehost (lift-and-shift) and assist with replatforming whererequired.

· Conduct validationtesting to ensure successful migration and workload functionality.

· Support post-migrationstabilization and performance tuning activities.

· Troubleshootmigration-related issues across compute, storage, and networking layers.

Cloud& Infrastructure Operations

· Provision, configure,and manage Azure Virtual Machines and related infrastructure components.

· Support Windows andLinux server administration in both on-premise and cloud environments.

· Assist in configuringhybrid networking components (VPN, ExpressRoute, DNS, etc.).

· Support backup,disaster recovery, and high availability configurations.

TechnicalSupport & Incident Management

· Resolve incidents andservice requests within agreed SLA timelines under general supervision.

· Monitor systemsproactively and identify issues before service impact.

· Investigate, analyse,and troubleshoot technical issues across infrastructure environments.

· Maintain accurate andtimely updates in ticketing systems with resolution details.

· Escalate complex issuesto senior engineers or Technical Leads where required.

ServiceDelivery & Process Compliance

· Ensure adherence toITIL processes including Incident, Problem, and Change Management.

· Support changeimplementation and document all activities accordingly.

· Contribute tocontinuous service improvement initiatives and operational efficiency.

· Participate in disasterrecovery testing and operational readiness activities.

Collaboration& Knowledge Sharing

· Work closely withTechnical Leads, architects, and cross-functional teams to support migrationand operational activities.

· Share knowledge anddocument solutions for common issues.

· Support juniorengineers where required and contribute to team knowledge base.

Required Skills & Qualification

· 3–5 years of experiencein IT infrastructure implementation and support.

· Hands-on experiencewith Azure infrastructure and migration projects.

· Strong skills in:

- Azure administration(VMs, storage, networking)

- Azure Migrate

- Windows and Linuxserver administration

- Networking fundamentals(IP, DNS, VPN)

- PowerShell scripting(basic to intermediate)

· Experience in VMprovisioning, troubleshooting, and infrastructure operations.

· Exposure to enterpriseIT environments and migration projects.

Qualifications & Certifications

· Bachelor’s degree inIT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).

· Preferredcertifications:

- Microsoft Certified:Azure Solution Architect (Expert)

- Microsoft Certified:Azure Administrator Associate

· Other cloud orinfrastructure certifications are advantageous.
