Back up Production Line Operator-Packaging – Whitebridge Pet, Joplin, MO

As a part of our manufacturing group, you will be responsible for supporting production packaging and processing operations, sanitation and participation in startup, changeover,

and shutdown of operating equipment.

Shift hours:

CURRENTLY HIRING FOR 2ND SHIFT

  • 8-hour shifts / Monday - Friday
    • 1st shift: 6:00am – 2:30pm
    • 2nd shift: 2:00pm – 10:30pm
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, any shift, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency events
  • Plant operation is 24 hours a day, 5 days per week

  • Starting at $21.00

What your day will look like:

    • Learn and perform the full responsibilities of the Packaging Operator and the Packer Sortation roles, flexing to whichever position is needed to support daily production and staffing needs.
    • Know, understand, communicate, and adhere to company policies and procedures, including but not limited to attendance, safety, HACCP, cGMPs, Preventive Controls for Animal Foods, and proper food-handling safety guidelines to support all Food Safety and Quality Programs.
    • Comprehend and actively monitor critical quality control points and food safety control points throughout the packaging process, taking immediate action and notifying appropriate personnel when issues arise.
    • Efficiently set up, operate, and monitor packaging equipment, including combi and tape machines, ensuring scavengers are available and properly installed (e.g., on Packaging Line 2) and that all equipment is operating safely and effectively.
    • Verify all product identification details, including code dates on bags, correct SKUs being run, and fox jet information, working closely with the Packaging Operator to ensure the correct product is on the line.
    • Inspect packaged products for integrity and quality, testing the integrity of each bag, checking for holes, open bags, seal quality, and correct scavenger counts (e.g., on Line 2), and promptly reporting any defects or concerns to the Quality Department.
    • Sort and inspect raw and in-process products to identify and remove defects or foreign material, maintaining product quality and food safety standards.
    • Assist operators with changeovers, including equipment adjustments, cleanup, and basic set-up tasks, and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with all sanitation and housekeeping expectations.

What you have to offer:

  • Minimum of a high school education or GED
  • 1 year of experience in a food manufacturing facility preferred
  • Working knowledge of computer systems; Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook is a plus
  • Must possess the ability to understand and effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors and others in the workplace regarding work matters (our business is generally conducted in English).

Physical requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces
  • Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms
  • Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net and gloves when required
  • Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions
  • Willing to work around industrial high-speed moving machinery
