Boarding Officer

Wilhelmsen Port Services is seeking a Boarding Agent to provide professional Ships Agency services for vessels calling at ports within the assigned area of responsibility. The successful candidate will attend vessels as required, act as the company's representative towards vessel Masters, officers, and crew, and proactively ensure that all vessel needs and operational requirements are met efficiently and professionally.

Main Responsibilities

  • Attend and board vessels as assigned, ensuring compliance with Company Standard Operating Procedures , regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Coordinate and complete all vessel inward and outward clearance formalities with the relevant authorities, terminals, and stakeholders.
  • Carry out vessel visits and inspections as required to ensure smooth and efficient port operations.
  • Ensure all cargo-related requirements, instructions, and documentation are clearly understood, monitored, and communicated to the Manager and other relevant parties in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records through the effective use of company systems and operational tools.
  • Ensure full compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and customer service standards throughout all vessel agency activities.
  • Maintain proactive and effective coordination with suppliers, colleagues, customers, and third parties to ensure timely execution and accurate service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards, policies, and procedures, promoting a strong safety culture at all times.
  • Provide accurate, timely, and professional communication to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor, report, and track port call cost elements, identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency and service delivery.
  • Respond promptly to vessel requests and proactively address operational issues to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with port authorities, terminals, service providers, vessel personnel, and other key stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in maritime operations, shipping agency services, port operations, or a related field within the maritime industry.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a high level of proficiency in both spoken and written English.
  • Proactive, customer-focused, and capable of anticipating and responding effectively to operational requirements.
  • Well-organized with strong planning and coordination skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment and work under pressure while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make sound decisions and take initiative when addressing operational challenges.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications and operational systems.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to ports, terminals, and vessels within the assigned area of responsibility.
