POSITION<\/span> PURPOSE: <\/span>Serve<\/span> <\/span>as<\/span> a <\/span>member <\/span>of the <\/span>Transportation<\/span> Team<\/span> to provide<\/span> safe,<\/span> <\/span>quality<\/span> <\/span>transportation<\/span> services<\/span> to children<\/span> and<\/span> families<\/span> in the Head<\/span> Start/Early<\/span> <\/span>Head<\/span> Start<\/span> Program.

<\/p>

DUTIES<\/span> <\/span>INCLUDE:<\/span>
<\/p>

  • Adheres<\/span> to all local, <\/span>state, and<\/span> federal<\/span> policies<\/span> regarding transportation.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Supervises<\/span> Bus Monitor.
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Maintains<\/span> confidentiality<\/span> concerning<\/span> <\/span>children<\/span> and<\/span> <\/span>families.<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Transports<\/span> children<\/span> to <\/span>and from<\/span> the Head<\/span> Start<\/span> centers<\/span> <\/span>in a safe,<\/span> efficient,<\/span> <\/span>and<\/span> <\/span>timely <\/span>manner <\/span>to include children<\/span> with disabilities.

  • Transports<\/span> children<\/span> to <\/span>and from<\/span> field trips, health<\/span> <\/span>clinics,<\/span> public schools,<\/span> and<\/span> other program <\/span>related<\/span> activities.
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Transport<\/span> parents<\/span> and staff <\/span>to meetings,<\/span> conferences, and<\/span> workshops,<\/span> as directed<\/span> by <\/span>Supervisor <\/span>or Leadership<\/span> <\/span>Team.<\/span><\/span>
    <\/li>
  • Maintain<\/span> a healthy,<\/span> safe, <\/span>and<\/span> orderly<\/span> <\/span>environment<\/span> <\/span>on the bus. <\/span>
    <\/li>
  • Maintain<\/span> communication<\/span> throughout <\/span>workday<\/span> and<\/span> <\/span>after<\/span> runs<\/span> <\/span>with Transportation Coordinator<\/span> in case <\/span>of <\/span>emergencies<\/span> or other<\/span> pick\-ups/drop offs. <\/span><\/span>
    <\/li>
  • Assure\nchildren<\/span> <\/span>are seated<\/span> properly<\/span> in their<\/span> seat belts and<\/span> harness<\/span> while being <\/span>transported.<\/span><\/span>
    <\/li>
  • Conducts<\/span> a child<\/span> count<\/span> <\/span>to confirm<\/span> that<\/span> the correct<\/span> <\/span>number <\/span>of children<\/span> <\/span>are <\/span>on<\/span> the bus and<\/span> <\/span>a final<\/span> count<\/span> to prevent<\/span> children<\/span> <\/span>from<\/span> being<\/span> left<\/span> behind.<\/span>
    <\/li>
  • Performs<\/span> daily<\/span> pre\-trip and post trip inspection<\/span> that<\/span> is required<\/span> by\nstate <\/span>and federal<\/span> <\/span>law <\/span>each<\/span> day.<\/span>
    <\/li>
  • Consult with Transportation<\/span> Coordinator<\/span> and<\/span> Program<\/span> Operations<\/span> Team<\/span> <\/span>Leaders<\/span> to <\/span>secure<\/span> <\/span>necessary<\/span> repairs.<\/span><\/span>
    <\/li>
  • Always<\/span> maintain<\/span> an<\/span> updated pick\-up/drop\-off<\/span> schedule.<\/span><\/span>
    <\/li>
  • Must submit weekly<\/span> <\/span>and<\/span> monthly reports<\/span> on time to Transportation<\/span> Coordinator and<\/span> <\/span>Program<\/span> Operations<\/span> <\/span>Team<\/span> Leader.<\/span><\/span>
    <\/li>
  • Attends bi\-weekly<\/span> <\/span>meetings, and<\/span> in\-service <\/span>training when<\/span> scheduled.<\/span><\/span>
    <\/li>
  • Submit Referrals/Special<\/span> <\/span>Arrangements<\/span> <\/span>to Transportation<\/span> Coordinator<\/span> and<\/span> <\/span>must be <\/span>approved<\/span> prior to any<\/span> changes<\/span> being<\/span> implemented.<\/span><\/span>
    <\/li>
  • All staff<\/span> <\/span>must sign in at their<\/span> appropriate<\/span> Head<\/span> Start<\/span> <\/span>center\ndaily<\/span> and<\/span> communicate<\/span> with <\/span>Transportation<\/span> Coordinator.<\/span><\/span>
    <\/li>
  • All drivers<\/span> must report<\/span> to <\/span>assigned<\/span> classroom<\/span> directly<\/span> <\/span>after performing<\/span> morning post\-trip <\/span>procedures,<\/span> except<\/span> when<\/span> <\/span>directed<\/span> to perform<\/span> other transportation<\/span> duties,<\/span> i.e., Taking<\/span> <\/span>buses<\/span> to the <\/span>shop for <\/span>repair,<\/span> taking<\/span> children<\/span> home <\/span>or on fieldtrips<\/span> etc.<\/span>

  • Perform<\/span> other <\/span>duties<\/span> as<\/span> <\/span>assigned by the Head<\/span> Start/Early<\/span> Head<\/span> Start<\/span> Director.

    QUALIFICATIONS: <\/span><\/span>Must have <\/span>the knowledge,<\/span> skills and<\/span> experience needed<\/span> to perform <\/span>assigned<\/span> functions<\/span> responsibly.
    <\/div>

    <\/div>
    • Must have <\/span>high school<\/span> diploma <\/span>or GED.<\/span>
      <\/span><\/li>
    • Must possess a valid<\/span> <\/span>Virginia Commercial<\/span> Driver\u2019s<\/span> License <\/span>with PS <\/span>Endorsement.
      <\/span><\/li>
    • Must have <\/span>a physical,<\/span> TB<\/span> <\/span>test, and<\/span> criminal<\/span> background<\/span> check<\/span> <\/span>at<\/span> the <\/span>time <\/span>of <\/span>employment.<\/span> <\/span><\/span>
      <\/li>
    • Knowledge<\/span> <\/span>of geographic area.<\/span>
      <\/span><\/li>
    • Must have <\/span>a <\/span>good driving record.<\/span>
