Business Development Director

Role Overview The Business Development Director will be responsible for driving new business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and expanding our construction project pipeline in Singapore and the wider region. A critical aspect of this role is leveraging established relationships in China to facilitate joint ventures, investment partnerships, and cross-border collaboration that strengthen our company’s development and market position.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute growth strategies to increase the company’s market share in Singapore and regional construction sectors.
  • Identify, evaluate, and secure new business opportunities by targeting partnerships and clients from China.
  • Build, nurture, and maintain strong relationships with Chinese developers, investors, contractors, and government-linked entities to support business expansion.
  • Lead negotiations and structure deals for large-scale construction and infrastructure projects to achieve favorable outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align business development strategies with company goals and operational capabilities.
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activities in Singapore and China to inform strategic decisions.
  • Represent the company at industry forums, exhibitions, and trade events in Singapore and China to enhance brand presence and network.

Required competencies and certifications

  • Fluency in Mandarin and English to effectively communicate and negotiate with stakeholders in cross-cultural business environments.

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field.
  • MBA qualification.
  • Minimum 10 years of business development experience in the construction or infrastructure industry.
  • Proven track record of securing large-scale projects and partnerships, especially with Chinese stakeholders.
  • Established network with Chinese developers, contractors, and investors.
  • Strong negotiation, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-cultural business environment.
