Cable and Security Systems Consultant
As a Consultant, you will act as the ultimate client advocate, leading the strategic design, coordination, and construction administration of complex IT infrastructure and physical security systems. This role demands a unique blend of deep technical engineering knowledge, masterful project management, and the consultative polish required to interface with C-suite stakeholders, architects, and general contractors.
1. Technology Design & Engineering
Design comprehensive IT infrastructure solutions, with a heavy emphasis on structured cabling (multi-mode/single-mode fiber, copper, outside plant), technology room layouts, and mission-critical facility design.
Engineer robust physical security architectures, including IP video surveillance, cloud and enterprise access control, and visitor management systems.
Incorporate exact physical requirements into master blueprints, detailing structural support needs, cabling pathways, power/grounding specs, building standards, and strict code compliance.
Maintain a strong general working knowledge of enterprise network hardware, system architecture, and digital media delivery technologies to ensure seamless system integration
2. Client Advocacy & Project Coordination
Serve as the primary trusted advisor and technology advocate for the client, driving alignment between client stakeholders and external project teams (Architects, MEP Engineers, General Contractors).
Develop, mature, and expand long-term relationships with project team partners and industry networks to drive collaborative success.
3. Construction Administration & Commissioning
Lead the construction administration phase: actively participate in Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings, execute rigorous site visits, and author precise field observation reports.
Partner closely with General Contractors and low-voltage installation vendors to guarantee all systems meet performance, cost, schedule, and warranty benchmarks.
Oversee final systems commissioning, client training, administrative hand-off, and formal owner acceptance to deliver exceptional client satisfaction.
- Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree and/or 10+ years of dedicated technology consulting and field experience.
Track Record: Minimum of 10 years of experience specifically in an IT and Security design, consulting, or technical Project Management role.
Certifications & Technical Proficiencies
RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) is highly preferred (or a proven track record of 10+ years of high-level infrastructure design).
Industry credentials are a major plus: CTS (Certified Technology Specialist), PSP (Physical Security Professional), PMP (Project Management Professional), or LEED accreditation.
Experience with Wi-Fi design and predictive modeling software is a significant plus.
