Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Test & Calibration Technician to support project‑based manufacturing of high‑reliability electronic assemblies. This role supports prototype, test, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair activities for primarily analog, high‑voltage power supplies, preamplifiers and detectors. Work is performed to strict workmanship and quality standards, including IPC‑J‑STD‑001, Military Soldering, and ASME NQA‑1 (preferred).
Key Responsibilities
- Perform manual testing, verification, and calibration of electronic assemblies using defined test and calibration procedures
- Support prototype builds, engineering development units, and low‑volume production
- Read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, wire diagrams, and test documentation
- Troubleshoot and repair analog electronic circuits, including high‑voltage power supplies
- Execute thru‑hole soldering, modification, and rework to IPC‑J‑STD‑001 or military workmanship standards
- Identify root causes of failures and document findings and corrective actions
- Support electrical testing using DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, hipot testers, and related equipment
- Maintain accurate test, calibration, and repair records per quality requirements
- Comply with all safety procedures related to high‑voltage electronics
- Support on‑site or customer travel as required for testing or project needs
Required Qualifications
- Experience as an Electronics Technician, Test Technician, or Calibration Technician
- Strong background in manual electronic testing and troubleshooting
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Hands‑on experience with thru‑hole technology
- Practical knowledge of analog electronics
- Experience performing electronic repair at component level
- Familiarity with high‑voltage circuits and power supplies
- Comfortable working in a structured, procedure‑driven environment
Preferred Qualifications
- IPC‑J‑STD‑001 certification (or equivalent military soldering certification)
- Experience supporting prototype or engineering development environments
- Familiarity with ASME NQA‑1 quality environments
- Background in test procedure execution and calibration documentation
- Experience in high‑reliability industries (defense, nuclear, aerospace, industrial power)
Preferred Education (Strongly Recommended)
Associate Degree or Technical Certificate (Most Common Standard)
Associate degree in one of the following is ideal:
- Electronics Technology
- Electrical Engineering Technology
- Instrumentation Technology
- Industrial Technology
- Metrology or Applied Science
OR
Technical trade school / community college certificate in:
- Electronics
- Instrumentation & Controls
- Industrial Maintenance
- Biomedical Equipment (for medical calibration roles)
Work Environment & Additional Information
- Approximately 75% of products are analog, with a strong emphasis on high‑voltage power supply design
- Hands‑on, lab‑based work requiring attention to detail and safety
- Occasional travel may be required to support project or customer needs
Work Schedule
