Camp Manager

CMG is seeking a highly organized and self-motivated individual for a seasonal site-based role. Reporting to the Project and/or Operations Manager(s), the Camp Manager will support and oversee all camp maintenance and operation. Key accountabilities include managing and delegating to the supporting camp maintenance team; preventative maintenance on camp equipment; problem solving and providing detailed feedback and information on maintenance complications; and providing general camp maintenance.

Responsibilities

The position will:

  • Oversee the daily operations and maintenance (including vehicle, electrical, mechanical and plumbing) of exploration camps up to 50 persons in size
  • Oversee and manage special builds or projects related to camp operations and their dedicated teams
  • Ensure cleanliness and safety in camps and site in general
  • Co-ordinate daily tasks and manage daily routine of camp support crew
  • Report to Project and/or Operations Manager(s) daily
  • Adhere to and understand corporate health, safety and compliance policies
  • Maintain and report safety and incident records (including daily toolboxes, incident reports and investigations, near miss reporting) within SiteDocs
  • Operate medium to heavy equipment (including loaders and skid steers)
  • Maintain up to date and detailed inventory of camp tools and equipment
  • Provide training and mentoring to camp staff

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in camp maintenance or relevant experience
  • Understanding and experience in trades such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry and a basic understanding of mechanical
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job
  • Ability to problem solve and multi-task
  • Class 5 (or equivalent) Driver’s License and PAL required
  • Other training considered an asset: WHMIS, FA Level 1, TDG, Frontline Supervisor, Mines Supervisor
  • Experience operating equipment including loaders, dozers and skid steers
  • Experience with helicopter supported mineral exploration programs
  • Ability to train and sign off on training records for employees including equipment operation, basic carpentry, operating site vehicles etc
  • Provide preventative and regular maintenance on onsite equipment (ie generators, water pumps, trucks, side by sides)
  • Maintain a safe and clean work site
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal, communication, time-management skills and be self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
