Capacity Specialist
Key Responsibilities
- Carrier Sourcing and Capacity Management- Source and secure carrier capacity for temperature-controlled produce shipments across the United States, ensuring consistent coverage in key shipping markets and lanes.
- Carrier Relationship Development- Build, maintain, and expand relationships with qualified carriers through daily prospecting, market engagement, and ongoing performance management.
- Rate Negotiation and Market Analysis- Negotiate competitive transportation rates while monitoring freight market conditions, carrier availability, and industry trends to support profitability and service objectives.
- Operational Execution and Problem Resolution- Collaborate with Operations, Dispatch, and Account Management teams to ensure successful shipment execution and proactively resolve service issues, delays, equipment failures, and capacity shortages.
- Carrier Compliance and Performance Management- Onboard, vet, and maintain carrier records while ensuring compliance with insurance, safety, regulatory, and company requirements. Track carrier performance metrics and provide market intelligence to support business growth.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced transportation and logistics environment with frequent interaction between carriers, customers, and internal teams.
- Requires the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and adapt quickly to changing market conditions.
- Primarily office-based work utilizing transportation management systems, carrier databases, communication platforms, and freight market tools.
- High-volume communication through phone, email, and messaging platforms throughout the workday.
- Team-oriented environment with a strong focus on collaboration, accountability, and customer service.
Education
- Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Transportation, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience will be considered.
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in logistics, transportation, freight brokerage, carrier sales, capacity procurement, or a related field.
- Experience with temperature-controlled (reefer) freight, produce transportation, or other time-sensitive freight preferred.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating carrier rates and securing transportation capacity in dynamic market conditions.
- Working knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS), carrier onboarding platforms, and load boards such as DAT and Truckstop.
- Familiarity with freight market trends, carrier compliance requirements, and transportation regulations.
- Knowledge of USDA, FMCSA, and produce transportation regulations preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

- $75000 CAD + Commision
