Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Manager – Supply Chain (Procurement/Purchase) to manage strategic sourcing, vendor development, cost control, and end-to-end procurement operations. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in the Automotive industry, specifically with Tier-1 suppliers or OEMs, and expertise in handling direct & indirect materials, supplier negotiations, and procurement governance.

Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Sourcing

Manage end-to-end procurement of raw materials, components, consumables, and services.

Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers aligned with quality, cost, and delivery requirements.

Handle RFQs, price negotiations, PO creation, and contract finalization.
-
Develop cost-saving strategies and drive VA/VE initiatives to reduce procurement spend.
Supplier Management
-
Build and maintain strong relationships with Tier-1/OEM suppliers.

Ensure suppliers comply with quality standards, delivery schedules, and commercial terms.

Monitor supplier performance through scorecards and take corrective actions when required.

Conduct supplier audits and capability assessments with quality & production teams.
Inventory & Supply Planning

Coordinate with production, planning, and logistics teams to maintain optimum inventory levels.

Ensure timely availability of materials to avoid line stoppage or stock-outs.

Monitor lead times and forecast requirements to plan procurement cycles.
Cost Control & Data Management

Analyze purchase trends, price fluctuations, and market conditions.

Implement strategic sourcing to optimize cost and procurement efficiency.

Maintain accurate procurement data, vendor records, and MIS reports.
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with production, quality, R&D, and finance teams for alignment on procurement needs.

Support new product development (NPD) by identifying and developing new vendors.

Ensure adherence to company procurement guidelines, policies, and compliance standards.
Required Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Production/Automobile Engineering or related field (preferred).

5+ years of procurement/sourcing experience in the automotive sector.

Strong exposure to Tier-1/OEM supply chains.

Hands-on experience in sourcing raw materials, mechanical parts, plastics, sheet metal, etc.

Excellent negotiation, costing, and supplier management skills.

Good knowledge of SAP/ERP procurement modules.

Strong analytical ability and understanding of supply chain metrics.

Ability to manage multiple suppliers and fast-paced operations.
