Cardiac Catheterization/Electrophysiology Laboratory Registered Nurse
This Cardiac Catheterization/Electrophysiology Laboratory Registered Nurse position is located in Nursing, Perioperative service line at the West Haven campus. This position is a full time position at 40 hours per week.
VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Duties include but not limited to: Responsible for providing competent, evidence-based procedural care to assigned patients with oversight of staff, including but not limited to licensed vocational/practical nurses or health technicians/nursing assistants, as appropriate in the pre/post procedural setting. Provides patient care, care coordination, health promotion, health education and coaching. Delivers and manages the care of patients undergoing therapeutic and diagnostic cardiology procedures including both inpatients and outpatients. Assesses the patients physical and mental status prior to procedures, educates on procedural and pre/post procedural care, and documents responses to interventions, findings, and reports any changes. Partners with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team to promote effective and safe transitions across the health care continuum, including the Veteran's goals of care. Has fundamental experience with the situations in which they are ultimately expected to perform, integrating theoretical concepts, basic critical thinking skills, and technically skilled practice. May function in several roles to include, pre-procedure assessments, post procedural recovery, and assisting physicians during procedures. Maintain proficiency on the maintenance, cleaning, and preparation of cardiology specific equipment. Recognize changes in patient care situations and initiate appropriate emergency actions. Adapts to changes in the daily schedule. May be assigned call, in which the CCL RN will follow all facility policies regarding response time. The salary is based on the grade and step approved for the selected candidate.
