Cardiac Scientific Officer (Midland Private)

Your role at St John of God Midland Private Hospital

Be part of something exceptional from the very beginning. As we prepare to open a brand-new state-of-the-art private hospital this August, we are seeking an experienced Cardiac Scientific Officer to join the team in our Cardiac Catheter Laboratory.

This role will require you will provide technical support and associated services to the Cardiac Vascular Intervention Unit for the performance of diagnostic and interventional electrophysiology studies.

The Position

  • Programs and operates physiological monitoring equipment and is responsible for the interpretation and recording of physiological cardiovascular measurements in accordance with the requirements of each consultant.

  • Programs and operates computerised electrophysiology equipment and stimulator in a cost-efficient manner and records and retrieves data from the system.

  • Assists in the preparation of the patient, defibrillates and participates in patient resuscitation.

  • Calibrates and coordinates maintenance of electrophysiology equipment.

  • Maintains adequate stock levels of consumables used in electrophysiology studies.

  • Evaluates and recommends new techniques and procedures in collaboration with senior suite caregivers and clinicians.

  • Keeps and maintains relevant patient records in relation to procedural data as applicable.

  • Undertakes formal and informal education of all caregivers in relation to Electrophysiology studies.

All other reasonable duties as directed by the relevant Manager/Supervisor

You will hold a Bachelor of Science or Applied Science majoring in Anatomical Science, Biomedical Science, Exercise Physiology or Human Biology OR Tertiary qualifications in Nursing or Medical Imaging Technology and eligible for registration with the relevant Board.

To succeed you will have Significant experience within the Angiography Suite setting as a Cardiac Scientific Officer or equivalent including extensive experience in:

  • ECG recording and interpretation,

  • Haemodynamic monitoring,

  • Electrophysiology and catheter ablation.

About the new Midland Private Hospital

  • A brand-new purpose-built state-of-the-art facility, currently under construction, located just 300 metres from the St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals Campus.

  • A comprehensive range of medical and surgical services, with interventional cardiology being offered for the first time in the region

​The hospital will feature:

  • 96 overnight inpatient beds, including a six-bed critical care/high dependency unit

  • 33 bed/chair short stay and day procedure unit

  • Eight operating theatres

  • A Cardiac Catheter Laboratory

We can offer you

  • Salary: $88,501 to $124,464 plus 12% superannuation

  • Permanent full-time position
