Your Role as a Care Worker – Traineeship

Wesley Mission Queensland (WMQ) is offering an exciting Care Worker Traineeship for people who are passionate about supporting others and eager to gain a Certificate III in Individual Support while working.
This opportunity is designed for those not yet qualified that are looking to start their Certificate iii Individual Support while working across the Aged Care Community Sector.
You’ll combine structured training with paid, on-the-job experience, including community-based care and cleaning shifts, setting you up for long-term employment as a qualified Care Worker.
You’ll Deliver This Role By:
Participating in the WMQ Traineeship Program and working towards successful completion of a Certificate III in Individual Support
Attending all required WMQ inductions, onboarding, mandatory training, and RTO training sessions
Completing on-the-job vocational placements, assessments, and training logbooks in a timely manner
Providing high-quality, person-centred care in customers’ homes, in line with individual care plans
Supporting customers with daily living tasks, cleaning, and community-based support
Working collaboratively with teammates, customers, families, and carers
Following the Aged Care Code of Conduct, WMQ Model of Care, policies, procedures, and values
Identifying and reporting health, safety, or environmental concerns within customer homes
Maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and appropriate boundaries at all times
Successful completion of the traineeship will lead to continued employment as a qualified Care Worker within WMQ.

hat We’re Looking For
A genuine desire to build a career in the care sector
Commitment to completing a Certificate III in Individual Support
Strong customer service skills with empathy, respect, and understanding
Good written and verbal communication skills
Basic technology skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Willingness to undertake cleaning shifts alongside care worker training shifts
Comfort working in homes that may have household pets
A Valuable Addition, Yet Not a Must-Have!
Previous experience in customer service, cleaning, hospitality, or community services
Experience supporting older people or people with disability
Knowledge of community or home-based care environments
Essential Requirements
Enrolment in a WMQ Traineeship Program – Certificate III in Individual Support
Australian Open Driver’s Licence or minimum Green P’s
Reliable vehicle with current registration and insurance
Willingness to travel to customer homes
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination status (or as required by legislation and WMQ policy)
Relevant probity checks as required by legislation and WMQ policy
