CARPENTER
Job Summary
The Carpenter performs measuring, cutting, assembling, installing, and repairing wooden structures and fixtures for construction and maintenance projects while ensuring safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and install wooden structures, furniture, doors, partitions, cabinets, and fixtures to meet project specifications
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work specifications to guide carpentry tasks
- Install and repair formwork, framework, ceilings, partitions, and related carpentry components accurately
- Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and carpentry equipment safely to ensure efficient work
- Perform site measurements and prepare materials according to project requirements and timelines
- Inspect completed carpentry work to verify quality, accuracy, and compliance with standards
- Coordinate with supervisors, project teams, and other workers to ensure smooth workflow and project progress
- Maintain a clean and safe work area by following proper housekeeping practices
- Comply with workplace safety regulations and company procedures to prevent accidents
- Complete assigned carpentry tasks within established project deadlines
Required competencies and certifications
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant carpentry experience
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and measurements to execute tasks correctly
- Knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials, and tools to perform construction and repair work
- Physical fitness to work safely and effectively in a construction environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Good problem-solving skills to address on-site challenges and time management skills to meet deadlines
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Experience in woodworking and furniture installation to enhance project outcomes
- Skills in formwork and partition installation for specialized carpentry tasks
- Ability to estimate measurements and materials to support project planning
- Safe operation of power tools and equipment to maintain workplace safety
- Attention to detail and commitment to workmanship quality for superior results
- Familiarity with Singapore workplace safety requirements is an advantage
- Willingness to work overtime when required to meet project demands
