CARPENTER

Job Summary

The Carpenter performs measuring, cutting, assembling, installing, and repairing wooden structures and fixtures for construction and maintenance projects while ensuring safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and install wooden structures, furniture, doors, partitions, cabinets, and fixtures to meet project specifications
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work specifications to guide carpentry tasks
  • Install and repair formwork, framework, ceilings, partitions, and related carpentry components accurately
  • Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and carpentry equipment safely to ensure efficient work
  • Perform site measurements and prepare materials according to project requirements and timelines
  • Inspect completed carpentry work to verify quality, accuracy, and compliance with standards
  • Coordinate with supervisors, project teams, and other workers to ensure smooth workflow and project progress
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area by following proper housekeeping practices
  • Comply with workplace safety regulations and company procedures to prevent accidents
  • Complete assigned carpentry tasks within established project deadlines

Required competencies and certifications

  • Minimum 2–3 years of relevant carpentry experience
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and measurements to execute tasks correctly
  • Knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials, and tools to perform construction and repair work
  • Physical fitness to work safely and effectively in a construction environment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Good problem-solving skills to address on-site challenges and time management skills to meet deadlines

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Experience in woodworking and furniture installation to enhance project outcomes
  • Skills in formwork and partition installation for specialized carpentry tasks
  • Ability to estimate measurements and materials to support project planning
  • Safe operation of power tools and equipment to maintain workplace safety
  • Attention to detail and commitment to workmanship quality for superior results
  • Familiarity with Singapore workplace safety requirements is an advantage
  • Willingness to work overtime when required to meet project demands
