Job Summary:
We are seeking a Catholic Religious Education Coordinator to support a local Catholic chapel community in Geilenkirchen, Germany. The selected candidate will help coordinate religious education programs, sacramental preparation, volunteer support, community events, and administrative activities for children, youth, and adults.
Main Duties:
- Coordinate Catholic religious education programs for children and adults.
- Support sacramental preparation including First Reconciliation, First Communion, Confirmation, and RCIA.
- Plan and assist with retreats, seasonal programs, Vacation Bible School, and special religious events.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteer catechists and ministry volunteers.
- Maintain attendance records, enrollment data, and program documentation.
- Prepare weekly activity reports and maintain program calendars.
- Coordinate classroom scheduling, facility use, and event logistics.
- Develop and distribute flyers, bulletins, announcements, and social media updates.
- Attend planning meetings and support coordination with chapel leadership.
- Support remote religious education for families as needed.
Requirements:
- Active, practicing, and confirmed Roman Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church.
- Letter of recommendation from a current or former Catholic pastor.
- Bachelor’s degree or at least one year of experience in religious education, catechesis, parish ministry, or a similar role.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and related office software.
- Strong organizational, communication, and administrative skills.
- Ability to work well with clergy, volunteers, families, and community members.
- Ability to obtain catechist certification within six months if not already certified.
- Ability to complete required background screening.
- Reliable transportation required.
- Must be available locally for at least one year.
