Context, Mission & Responsibilities:

As an Area Manager, you report to and collaborate with the Retail Director to create and transmit an ambitious and coherent retail vision in our stores. You manage and lead with efficiency a network of 6 stores: Basel, Crans Montana, Gstaad, Lausanne, Lugano and Saint Moritz.

The role of the Retail Manager is to support Store Managers in defining their store's strategy and in executing their objectives, ensuring a transversal area approach through the creation of synergies and sharing of best practices in all aspects. You lead the Store managers to achieve their goals in terms of business results, product sales through, customer experience and talent development.

Drive Business Performance:

You are responsible for achieving the turnover of your area ensuring a good balance between resources and objectives.

  • Performance: you manage the various performance indicators of your stores (annual and monthly turnover objectives, KPIs, operational & financial indicators...)
  • Retail operational efficiency: you drive continuous improvement on the organization of the floor and the productivity of the back of house. You ensure most efficient team organization of the store and you support logistical improvements in collaboration with the Retail Operations Manager.
  • Product Offer: In collaboration with the product merchandising team, you ensure the quality and relevance of the product offer in store (as well as its presentation), and its renewal (via relevant purchases, stock management and transfers).

Animate Client Service Excellence:

  • You ensure that your stores’s clients receive an impeccable service. Ambassador and promoter of a unique experience within your stores, you will make sure to bring to life the Hermès values: Generosity - Simplicity - Bespoke - Surprise – Expertise
  • You ensure renewal and maintenance of the Customer Database, you drive your team to stimulate traffic, you know and activate your stores’s customers
  • You maintain a foothold in your local territory with the help of relevant local partnerships and in collaboration with the communication department

Implement Commercial Strategy:

  • In collaboration with the Retail Director and in line with the subsidiary goals, you prepare the vision for your area and the business approach for each of your stores
  • You prepare store budgets and support stores to achieve these budgets & the management of costs
  • Together with the Product Offer department and in support to the Store Managers, you support on the implementation a Swiss buying strategy, based on the specificity of each store and market
  • You actively participate in the buying sessions
  • Continuously work with store managers to develop and strengthen their local client base

People Management:

  • Ensuring the best possible working atmosphere, you develop the skills and cohesion of the store teams by all means: Clear communication, sharing of objectives, high expectations and management of difficult subjects.
  • You set annual quantitative and qualitative objectives for store managers and coach them to achieve their goals
  • In collaboration with the Retail Director and the HR Director, you determine the needs in terms of store organization, recruitment, training and talent development.
  • Succession planning: You capitalize on spotting individual talents to contribute to the development of collective achievement within the Hermès Switzerland & Central Europe network
  • You regularly visit the stores in your area, to understand their functioning, deal with operational and managerial matters to reach organizational efficiency.

Operational Management:

  • You lead the establishment of the stores’ maintenance projects and together with the Retail Operations Manager you ensure proper handling of maintenance/renovation issues and budgets
  • In collaboration with the Retail Operations Manager, you coordinate the roll-out of central projects,
  • You make sure that operational and internal control procedures are followed in all stores,
  • After Sales: Support Store Managers in dealing with major client complaints.

  • Performing and competent teams across your stores
  • Proximity to the stores in your area and understanding of local specificities
  • Relevance and measurable performance of commercial actions implemented
  • Relevance and quality of the monitoring of store managers' action plans

Profile we are looking for should possess:

  • Minimum 8 years of store management and / or animation of a store network
  • Strategic vision with an open mind for "out-of-the-box" solutions
  • Leadership, sense of sharing & team player
  • Strong managerial experience
  • Ability to manage multicultural and geographically distant teams
  • Structured, precise and creative
  • Relational qualities: sense of listening and contact
  • Fluent in German and English.
