Job Summary:
The Certified Medication Technician (CMT) is responsible for administering prescribed medications to patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse in accordance with all facility, company, and regulatory standards. The CMT ensures accurate documentation, observes patients for medication effects, and promotes a safe, therapeutic environment..
Performance Expectations:
- Administers medications accurately and safely under the direction of licensed nursing staff in accordance with physician orders, facility protocol, and state regulations.
- Observes patients for medication side effects, adverse reactions, and changes in condition and reports concerns promptly to nursing staff.
- Accurately documents all medication administration and patient responses in the medical record.
- Assists with medication inventory, storage, monitoring of expiration dates, and controlled substance accountability as assigned.
- Maintains a safe and clean medication administration environment.
- Follows CFG Health, facility, custody, and regulatory policies and procedures.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and protects sensitive health information at all times.
- Communicates effectively with nursing staff, custody staff, providers, and patients.
- Participates in shift reports, staff meetings, and required in-service training.
- Responds appropriately to emergencies, including medical or behavioral incidents.
- Supports infection control practices and safety standards.
- Demonstrates professional conduct, reliability, and accountability.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
