Chief Fire Officer
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures that the facilities are adequately equipped and members of staff are properly trained and instructed in their areas of responsibilities.
- Submits requisition orders to the Director of Operations (DOO) for supplies and equipment, which are deemed necessary for the effective and efficient operation of the airport Fire and Rescue Services.
- Performs inspections of all areas of the RFFS Unit.
- Responds to all airport-related emergencies.
- Visits buildings and aircraft within the aerodrome area for familiarization, and give advice on Fire prevention and suppression systems.
- Supervises water aerodrome, rescue and fire fighting services
- Coordinates training for recruit Fire Fighters.
- Evaluates performance of Firefighters and makes necessary recommendations for performance improvement, training, promotion etc.
- Coordinates and facilitates education awareness programmes in fire prevention with various agencies including schools, business organizations etc.
- Visits and investigates the scene of all fires to collect evidence and determine the cause of the fire; reports finding to the Director of Operations.
- Updates records and maintains a filing system for the station; researches and compiles data for report preparation.
- Make recommendations to the DOO on possible ways and means of improving the fire service; and also replacement of equipment and appliances.
- Performs routine airport fire fighting duties at BVIAA.
- Prepares monthly report regarding RFFS activities and submits to the Director of Operations.
- Prepares budget reports on an annual basis and submits to the Director of Finance.
- Prepares RFFS operations annual report and submits to the Director of Administration.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by Senior Management.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration or related field
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a management role
