This position will be based in our Dublin office with a hybrid schedule that has the option of working two days remotely each week.

Position Overview:

Everest Insurance (Ireland) DAC (EIID) is an Irish-regulated non-life insurance company operating across multiple jurisdictions, including through a third-country branch in the UK regulated by the PRA/FCA. Following a strategic decision in late 2025 to reposition the business towards Global Wholesale & Specialty (GW&S) and away from retail, certain international offices and branches are now in run-off, while the go-forward business continues to evolve in line with Everest’s global strategy.

Reporting to the CRO for GW&S, this role will act as CRO for EIID, covering the Irish legal entity and it’s UK branch, as well as representing Risk for the International Division, including EIID, the Lloyd’s Syndicate and Singapore branch. The role will provide senior risk leadership across International, ensuring effective oversight of both run-off activity and the go-forward business, while maintaining alignment with Group ERM standards and applicable regulatory expectations.

This role will hold PCF14 accountability with the CBI, be a member of the EIID Executive committee and report to the EIID Board and Risk Committee.

Role Purpose:

The role will lead the continued development, implementation and embedding of the risk management function across EIID and alignment and collaboration of the risk functions across relevant international operations. It will provide independent second-line oversight, constructive challenge and risk-based insight to support strategic decision-making, regulatory confidence and the effective management of both run-off and go-forward business activities.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Risk Management Framework: Lead the implementation and embedding of a robust Risk Management Framework that is proportionate to EIID’s business model and aligned to CBI, PRA/FCA and Group ERM expectations.
  • ORSA, Stress Testing and Recovery Planning: Oversee the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment process, including stress and scenario testing and recovery planning, ensuring outputs are timely, insightful and suitable for regulatory and Board-level review.
  • Leadership and Risk Culture: Provide leadership to the risk management team and promote a strong, practical and business-aware risk culture across EIID.
  • Strategic and Business Planning: Develop and deliver the Annual Risk Plan, support the annual business planning process, and provide independent challenge to strategic initiatives to ensure material risk implications are clearly understood and appropriately managed.
  • Risk Monitoring: Ensure appropriate Key Risk Indicators, dashboards and deep-dive reviews are in place to monitor the risk profile, identify emerging risks and provide timely escalation to management and governance forums.
  • Run-off Oversight: Provide second-line risk management oversight of the retail run-off portfolio, ensuring risk exposures, operational implications and governance requirements are appropriately monitored, challenged and reported
  • Governance and Reporting: Oversee the preparation of high-quality risk papers and reporting for management, the Risk Committee and the Board, ensuring clear insight, appropriate challenge and effective support for governance responsibilities.
  • International Head of Risk (10%)
  • Senior Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with senior leadership, department heads and international stakeholders to provide risk advice, oversight and challenge, while supporting alignment and synergies across Everest Group ERM and GW&S.
  • International Coherence: Work with risk teams in the UK, Singapore and other relevant jurisdictions to support consistent application of the Risk Management Framework, strengthen cross-border collaboration and unlock value across the global risk function.
  • Group ERM Liaison: Act as a key point of connection with Group ERM, leveraging enterprise tools, specialist expertise and emerging good practice to support the executive team and strengthen local governance.

Professional Experience:

  • Extensive knowledge of non-life insurance risks, with a strong understanding of CBI and PRA/FCA regulatory expectations. Previous CBI PCF14 holder preferable.
  • Proven ability to apply analytical judgement, professional scepticism and effective challenge to complex business and risk matters.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence senior stakeholders across functions and jurisdictions.
  • Experience supporting organisational change, with the resilience, judgement and ethical standards required to drive continuous improvement in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
