Child Inclusive Practitioner

  • Part-time (0.6 FTE), Max-Term 6 Months with potential to extend

  • $51.23 - $54.39 per hour + Super + Salary Packaging

Join a dedicated team supporting children and families navigating change. Within our Child, Youth & Family Wellbeing program, you’ll be part of a multidisciplinary service focused on strengthening relationships, supporting safety, and ensuring children’s voices are heard in family decision-making.

Your role, your impact
Step into a meaningful role where your work helps children feel heard, supported, and safe during family transitions. As a Child Inclusive Practitioner, you will support parents and other involved in the mediation process to better understand child’s experiences and needs, contributing to more informed, child-focused decisions.

  • Lead child-inclusive practice by engaging children and parents in safe, supportive conversations
  • Deliver family-centred support to help parents understand and respond to their child’s needs
  • Undertake risk assessments and safety planning, with a focus on family violence and child wellbeing
  • Collaborate with mediators and professionals to support family dispute resolution outcomes
  • Facilitate referrals and service connections to strengthen support networks for families
  • Engage respectfully with diverse communities, promoting cultural safety and inclusion
  • Contribute to service improvement and team learning through evaluation and professional development

Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about supporting children and families through change, with the confidence to navigate complex situations thoughtfully and respectfully.

  • Degree in Social Science or related field (e.g. Social Work, Psychology or Counselling)
  • Experience supporting children and families, particularly in complex or high-conflict situations
  • Strong understanding of child development, attachment, and the impact of family conflict
  • Knowledge of family violence and its impacts on children and families
  • Ability to assess risk and develop safety plans
  • Excellent communication skills, including managing sensitive conversations
  • Strong collaboration skills within multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to engage respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Willingness to undertake Child Inclusive Practice training

What will make you stand out

  • Experience in group facilitation, including working with mandated clients
  • Training in family violence or related areas
  • Experience working within family dispute resolution or similar frameworks
