Your new role
QBE Insurance currently have the opportunity to join the business in the role of Claims Officer within our QLD Liability Claims space.
This role is pivotal to the team’s success, proactively supporting our claims philosophy and strategy, managing end to end personal injury and property liability claims and acting within legislative requirements to support the QLD Liability Claims unit in achieving its targeted objectives.
The key responsibilities for this role include the following, but not limited to:
Effectively manage Queensland liability claims with a proactive approach, ensuring accurate assessment, validation, and timely resolution, delivered with professionalism and attention to detail.
Interpret policy coverage to assess claim eligibility, escalating complex issues when necessary.
Build and maintain strong relationships with insured parties, brokers, investigators, solicitors, and the general public.
Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory guidelines, standards, and privacy requirements.
Initiate and complete recovery actions from third parties where applicable.
Conduct regular self-audits of claims files to support positive internal audit outcomes.
Respond to enquiries in a timely, accurate, and courteous manner, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Legal qualifications are beneficial but not essential, with a strong background in Public Liability and Personal Injury claims preferred.
Proven experience in dispute resolution, including Informal Settlement Conferences, Mediations, Trials, and alternative dispute resolution processes.
Strong technical expertise in managing diverse claims portfolios (bodily injury, property damage, product liability) and interpreting investigation reports for sound decision-making.
Understanding of underwriting procedures and policy wordings across a diversified liability portfolio.
Ability to collaborate effectively with external providers such as lawyers, loss adjusters, and consultants.
Commitment to industry standards, including the General Insurance Code of Practice, and the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
