Job Description:

Clinical IT Pharmacy Manager

The Clinical IT Pharmacy Manager will understand and develop solutions to improve the medication use process, enhancing patient outcomes, patient safety, and operational efficiency. This role will collaborate with key stakeholders to integrate these solutions into electronic medical records (EMR) and other relevant technologies used in the designated areas of responsibility.

The Clinical IT Pharmacy Manager is responsible for supervising pharmacy technology applications. These responsibilities include but are not limited to, monitoring the core EMR system and managing the pharmacy drug database.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Oversight of the Automated Dispensing System, Smart Infusion pump libraries, the automated crash cart tray system, and the pneumatic tube medication tracking system.
  • Managing, maintaining, and monitoring all pharmacy information systems.
  • Analyzing data from various systems to generate reports.
  • Monitoring billing accuracy.
  • Coordinating pharmacy IT problem resolution with support services.
  • Collaborating with the Revenue Cycle to maintain and update CDM codes.
  • Providing ongoing maintenance of the pharmacy applications.
  • Managing order sets.
  • Assisting staff training in pharmacy applications
  • Supporting the implementation of programs that improve the quality of pharmaceutical services.
  • Developing policies and procedures as needed.
  • Customizing software.
  • Planning, implementing, and testing software upgrades.
  • Developing, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting interfaces between clinical information systems.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a current license to practice as a registered pharmacist in New York State.
  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hospital experience.
  • Knowledge of Meditech and Pyxis preferred.
  • Hospital Pharmacy Management experience preferred.
