About the Role

We are seeking a Clinical Pharmacist to join our Wellness Support Team (WST) on a 9‑month fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave.

This is a primary care focused role, working to improve access to medicines and reduce health inequities for at‑risk communities. You will work closely alongside GPs, nurses, and other health professionals to deliver high-quality, integrated care.

About the Position

This full-time role is based across two busy South Auckland GP clinics, with additional support provided to surrounding practices.

You will play a key role in:

  • Supporting medication management and optimisation
  • Delivering health education to patients
  • Reducing hospital admissions and improving long-term health outcomes

Key Responsibilities

  • Optimise medication use to improve health outcomes
  • Perform clinical evaluation of medicines, assessing effectiveness and safety
  • Reconcile medications to ensure safe and appropriate use
  • Support long-term condition management through recommendations or prescribing (where applicable)
  • Improve medication adherence and awareness of medicine-related risks
  • Lead or contribute to quality improvement initiatives, including medication audits

What You’ll Bring

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) or equivalent
  • Current Annual Practising Certificate (APC) without restrictions
  • Postgraduate clinical pharmacy qualification (or working towards)
  • Strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice
  • Knowledge of inequities in medicine access and use in Aotearoa
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and critical appraisal skills

Preferred Experience

  • At least 2 years’ recent clinical experience (primary or hospital care)
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience advising or supporting other health professionals
