As a Remote Ultrasound Interpretation Clinician, you'll play a vital role in supporting timely abortion care by providing expert ultrasound interpretation for patients. Your work helps ensure patients receive compassionate, high-quality, evidence-based care without unnecessary delays.

This unique role combines the flexibility of a consistent remote schedule every Wednesday with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across multiple clinics. Position Details:

Primary Schedule: Remote every Wednesday from 9:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m., providing virtual ultrasound interpretation.

Additional Opportunities: Providers may elect to work optional PRN clinical shifts at our Charleston or Columbia, SC health centers. PRN scheduling is flexible and based on organizational needs.

All staff are expected to remain at the health center until all patients are checked out, documentation is completed, and the health center is cleaned.

What You'll Bring to the Role:

  • License or certification for Advanced Practice Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife with experience in reproductive health care.
  • CPR certification which must be maintained throughout employment.
  • 1 to 3 years relevant medical experience, preferably in family planning/gynecology.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish rapport with patients.
  • Willing to learn new skills/techniques and apply them in the pursuit of quality patient care.
  • Preferred Qualification:
  • Previous ultrasound interpretation experience, formal ultrasound training, or certification in obstetric/gynecologic sonography is preferred.
  • Providers without prior ultrasound interpretation experience should demonstrate an interest in developing this skill and will receive training in first and second trimester ultrasound interpretation in accordance with PPSAT clinical protocols.
  • What You'll Do: (but not limited to)

    Remote Ultrasound Interpretation (Wednesday Schedule)

    • Review and interpret first and second trimester ultrasound images.
    • Virtually assess ultrasound findings and accurately classify pregnancies, including intrauterine pregnancy, pregnancy of unknown location, and other clinically significant findings.
    • Support health centers during a scheduled remote interpretation day.
    • Interpret ultrasound studies each Wednesday while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and clinical excellence.
    • Collaborate virtually with clinical teams to ensure timely patient care and continuity of services.
    • Optional PRN Clinical Opportunities

      In addition to remote interpretation, providers interested in PRN clinical hours may also:

      • Deliver comprehensive reproductive and sexual healthcare in accordance with evidence-based medical protocols.
      • Obtain complete health histories and perform comprehensive reproductive health assessments and physical examinations.
      • Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic testing, including ultrasound and laboratory studies, as clinically indicated.
      • Provide contraceptive counseling, prescribe and administer contraceptive methods, and educate patients on reproductive health and wellness.
      • Diagnose and manage reproductive health conditions, sexually transmitted infections, and other gynecologic concerns within scope of practice.
      • Provide gender-affirming healthcare services consistent with organizational protocols and clinical privileging.
      • Support abortion care by providing pre-procedure evaluations, sonography, informed consent, medication administration, recovery oversight, follow-up care, and related clinical services.
      • Apply appropriate CPT, ICD-10, and Evaluation & Management (E&M) coding for all patient encounters.
      • Participate in quality improvement, risk management, and patient safety initiatives that support clinical excellence.
      • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice clinicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to provide coordinated, patient-centered care.
      • Participate in the education and mentorship of healthcare professionals and students.
      • Serve as a clinical leader during medical emergencies and support health center operations as needed.
      • Contribute to organizational goals related to clinical quality, patient experience, workplace culture, and health center sustainability.

  • Compensation:
    PPSAT is committed to equitable and transparent pay practices. This position is placed within our established pay structure, with an hourly pay range of $57.60 to $72.00 per hour. Starting salary will be determined based on your experience and internal equity. Saturday differential of additional $7.00 per hour.
