CNC Machinist

  • Based in Toowoomba, QLD
  • Remuneration: $93k - $97k

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our Toowoomba operations. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical machining capability, a commitment to safety and quality, and the ability to mentor apprentices while supporting business growth initiatives.

Key responsibilities include however, are not limited to:

  • Training and mentoring of Apprentices and shop personnel.
  • Establish and maintain excellent communication.
  • Ensure compliance with all standard operating procedures and safe work practices across our operating centers
  • Accurate completion of job/time/clocking cards is essential.
  • Undertake training – upskilling to provide client required services.
  • Complete product, repair, and inspection documentation in accordance with our Quality Management System and corporate policies.
  • Maintain and create accurate records daily.
  • Carry out machining as per engineering drawing and/or instruction.
  • Undertake shift work to meet the needs of the operations.
  • Report machine and infrastructure faults and equipment problems to OEM.
  • Highlight to senior management any conflicts between operational procedures and our safety mandate.
  • Assistance if required in performing fitting, maintenance, and general hand duties.
  • Care, maintenance and organisation of company gauges and measuring equipment.
  • Working with the operations team to grow the business through client and project diversification initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all standard operating procedures and safe work practices across our operating centers.
  • Highlight to management any conflicts between operational procedures and our safety mandate.
  • Current and appropriate Trade Certificate.
  • Current relevant licenses, including forklift and large wheeled loader.
  • Current licenses require to drive or operate company vehicles, plant or equipment relevant to the role.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience operating manual metal working machinery in a customer-focused manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience operating and programming metal working machinery in a customer-focused manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of manual and computer-controlled turning and milling equipment.
  • Knowledge of steel grades and their machining characteristics.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S, waste elimination and visual communication.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with customers, suppliers and employees.
  • Physical fitness appropriate to the role
