We're partnering with a growing precision manufacturing organization seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to support complex, close-tolerance production. You'll play a key role in developing and optimizing CNC programs, supporting production efficiency, and ensuring compliance with strict quality standards.
Position Overview
The CNC Programmer is responsible for creating, modifying, and maintaining CNC programs, CAD/CAM models, and process documentation. This role works closely with engineering and operations teams to ensure manufacturing processes are efficient, accurate, and aligned with customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize CNC programs using CAD/CAM software
- Interpret and create CAD models, blueprints, and technical drawings
- Define machining strategies including tooling, speeds/feeds, and workholding
- Design fixtures, jigs, and tooling concepts to support production
- Program and support a range of equipment such as mills, lathes, EDM, laser, and waterjet systems
- Utilize simulation tools to verify and validate programs prior to release
- Create detailed operation work instructions and supporting documentation
- Collaborate with engineering and operations to define manufacturing plans
- Maintain program control systems and ensure documentation accuracy and traceability
- Support process improvements, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Participate in cross-functional technical discussions as needed
Qualifications
- 5+ years of CNC programming experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with CAD/CAM platforms (e.g., Mastercam, NX, Catia, or similar)
- Strong background working with CNC equipment and modern controllers
- Deep understanding of:
- Machining processes and strategies
- GD&T and blueprint interpretation
- Tooling and materials
- Precision measurement and shop math
- Ability to develop manufacturing processes for tight-tolerance components
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
- Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
Work Environment
- Manufacturing facility setting with advanced equipment
- Exposure to noise, moving machinery, and standard industrial conditions
- May require extended standing, movement throughout the facility, and lifting up to 50 lbs
- Occasional schedule flexibility based on production needs
