CNC Programming Lead

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced CNC Programming Lead to guide and support the CNC programming team in delivering production targets for On-Time Delivery (OTD), quality, and cost. This role involves hands-on technical leadership, from reviewing drawings and tooling requirements to supporting the Sales team with machining estimates for quotations. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving programming standards, resolving production issues, and mentoring the wider programming team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate actual demonstrated hours for FA jobs and prepare weekly performance reports with improvement recommendations for the Production Manager
  • Guide and train CNC programmers to achieve organisational targets in On-Time Delivery (OTD), quality, and cost
  • Assign daily tasks to CNC programmers to support production delivery dates
  • Conduct testing and evaluation of new tools
  • Prepare M-orders and routings for fixtures or test machining profiles on a monthly basis
  • Review new drawings and FA parts, and source the right tooling together with the programming team before production starts
  • Review customer drawings during the routing stage to identify errors or clarify technical requirements before job commencement
  • Perform detailed investigations on machining defects and respond to Corrective Action Reports (CAR) for programming-related issues
  • Resolve production issues and respond to suggestions for improvements and enhancements
  • Create manufacturing process routings in the ERP system
  • Provide technical support and advice during pre-process discussions, including evaluation of complex machine drawings for manufacturing
  • Support the Sales team by providing accurate machining hour estimations, fixture requirements, special tooling recommendations, and cost calculations for quotations

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of programming experience, preferably within the Oil & Gas industry
  • Diploma or Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Well-versed in milling and turning processes
  • Strong computer programming skills, with a good grasp of algebra, trigonometry, and physics
  • Broad knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Vericut, Mastercam, or similar software
