Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role on a major capital expansion project within the Waste-to-Energy sector. As the Commissioning Manager, you will oversee all commissioning activities from mechanical completion through plant start-up, integrated system testing, performance validation, and final handover to operations.

Working alongside engineering, construction, operations, and equipment vendors, you will drive the safe and successful delivery of a complex industrial facility while ensuring systems are installed, tested, and operating in accordance with design specifications and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and execute the overall commissioning strategy for a large industrial energy facility.
  • Manage pre-commissioning, cold commissioning, hot commissioning, and performance testing activities.
  • Coordinate cross-functional commissioning efforts across mechanical, electrical, process, instrumentation & controls, and utility systems.
  • Oversee the commissioning of critical plant equipment, including boilers, steam turbines, emissions control systems, water treatment systems, and balance-of-plant infrastructure.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between engineering, construction teams, OEM vendors, contractors, and plant operations.
  • Support system turnover, punch list management, and commissioning documentation.
  • Promote a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.
  • Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions during start-up and performance testing.
  • Verify that facility performance meets contractual expectations for efficiency, reliability, capacity, and emissions.

This role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on a high-profile energy infrastructure project while working with advanced power generation technologies and multidisciplinary project teams.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered.
  • 10+ years of experience in commissioning, start-up, power generation, thermal processing, or heavy industrial projects.
  • Proven experience serving as a Commissioning Manager or Commissioning Lead on large capital projects.
  • Background in Waste-to-Energy, biomass, combined-cycle, conventional power generation, or similar industrial process facilities strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of boiler systems, steam cycles, emissions control technologies, and complex process plant operations.
  • Experience coordinating commissioning activities across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate with contractors, vendors, and operations personnel.
  • Familiarity with commissioning safety programs, permit-to-work systems, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work onsite in Spring Hill, FL for the duration of the assignment.
