Communications Manager, Amazon Mexico
Amazon.com is seeking a highly-intelligent, high-judgment, self-motivated and well-connected brand-PR professional to join our strategic communications team to strengthen the 3P communications strategy for Amazon in Mexico while leading the Press Office in the country and rest of LATAM.
Reporting into the Head of Stores & Corporate Communications in Mexico and expansion countries in Latin America, this role will partner and collaborate with key business leaders and stakeholders to design, develop, and execute communications initiatives & programs across 3P Business (sellers, Amazon business, Global selling) and lead press office in Mexico and rest of Latam.
The ideal candidate is a creative & strategic story teller, scrappy and results-oriented, with excellent English and Spanish communications skills, having the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and to quickly establish relations with media, influencers and other external audiences. This individual will manage proactive strategic announcements & campaigns and lead ISCC reactive communications while driving media engagements across our team. The candidate needs to have experience in developing and leading meaningful brand and/or corporate communication programs, storytelling, agency & budget management, high standards under tight deadlines, and be flexible to manage ambiguity as priorities change. To be successful in this role candidate will need excellent communications skills, exemplary writing ability-including business, exceptional initiative, and a talent for ownership, leadership and partnership.
Key job responsibilities
• Develop and execute strategic communications and public relations initiatives and programs to drive awareness, relevance and credibility across relevant audiences and external key stakeholders in the county such as: media opinion leaders, thought leaders, local associations, government officials.
• Develop and execute stores communications announcements, campaigns, reports and evergreen contents.
• Write strategic business plans that include campaign and tactics, coordinating and supervising the work with the agency.
• Lead the development of press materials & PR features, such as media pitches, press releases, blogs, visuals, infographics, among others.
• Lead Press office in Mexico by building and leveraging relationships with retail, finance, technology, corporate, business and vertical trade media in Mexico.
• Train and manage spokespeople at all levels for external facing communications including press, analyst engagements, and speaking opportunities.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with teams in 3P business, marketing, operations, public policy, HR, and other domains to ensure coordinated, consistent messaging.
• Be responsive and strategic in managing potential local issues in Mexico and rest of LATAM related to Amazon’s brand reputation.
• Develop mechanisms to help scale coverage, tracking, media relations, and other core team functions.
• Help manage an external public relations agency on programs, budget and day-to-day matters.
• Successfully manage complex, fast-moving and unexpected communications challenges.
• Serve as a brand ambassador, ensuring consistent representation of the company's identity, values, and strategic vision.
• Ability and willingness to travel to locations across Mexico, Europe and Americas.
