The Role: Communications Manager
Role Overview: The Director of Communications will play a key role in leading the development and execution of communications within the APAC region. This position focuses on enhancing the visibility and reputation of S&P Global Energy by building relationships with key media, supporting senior stakeholders, and ensuring consistent and strategic messaging. This role is highly collaborative, requiring teamwork with colleagues, leadership, and subject matter experts to deliver impactful communications that support divisional and corporate goals.
Impact:
Develop and execute communications strategies that position S&P Global Energy as a leader in data, insights, news and benchmarks across global energy and commodities markets.
Support media relations efforts by cultivating strong relationships with top-tier media outlets, journalists, and industry influencers to achieve impactful media citations and coverage.
Track regional media coverage and internal metrics to measure the effectiveness of communications and ensure alignment with business goals.
Contribute to broader strategic planning and execution of communications, including crisis communications and rapid-response strategies.
Collaborate on internal communications campaigns and content.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute the communications strategy for S&P Global Energy within the APAC region aligned with divisional and corporate objectives.
Collaborate with senior leaders and subject matter experts to craft compelling narratives and communicate key strategic initiatives and innovations.
Draft and distribute external content, including press releases, statements, media advisories, pitch materials, and bylined articles.
Ensure all communications align with S&P Global's corporate values, vision, and strategic goals, as well as communications practice and guidelines.
Build and maintain relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, top-tier global media, industry analysts, and key journalists across the APAC region.
Coordinate media interviews, press briefings, and events to promote divisional initiatives and corporate goals.
Monitor and report on communications results aligned with divisional and enterprise strategic goals.
Manage media relations during crises, ensuring effective responses and mitigating potential reputational risks.
Create internal content and manage internal events as required.
Qualifications:
Strategic communications leader with industry credibility, extensive regional media relationships, and the ability to translate complex market dynamics into impactful public narratives.
Experience developing and executing PR strategies throughout APAC markets, using creativity to achieve resonance and penetration, and the ability to identify and drive high-value opportunities.
Experience in drafting and managing communications materials for both internal and external audiences, with the ability to craft clear and compelling messages for diverse audiences.
Proven experience in building relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, media outlets, and industry influencers, with the ability to take ownership and drive actions forward.
Strong project management skills to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to handle time-sensitive issues and support media relations during crisis situations.
Minimum 10 years of experience in external communications, media relations, or public relations, preferably in financial services, energy, data analytics, or technology. Familiarity with the financial and commodities markets, data services, or analytics sectors is a plus.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Fluency in English (written and spoken).
High degree of AI literacy to help plan, prepare and measure communications efforts.
