What You’ll Do:

  • Command the technology: Operate advanced computer-aided dispatch systems, integrated radio, telephony, and GIS mapping technology to coordinate emergency response with precision.
  • Be the first point of contact: Field emergency and non-emergency calls, assess situations, and determine the best course of action.
  • Direct the heroes: Dispatch police, fire, rescue, and other emergency personnel to ensure swift and effective response.
  • Stay sharp: Monitor public service radio frequencies, track field personnel locations, and maintain real-time situational awareness.
  • Keep everything running smoothly: Prepare detailed reports, maintain records, and inspect communications equipment for optimal performance.
  • Go above and beyond: Collect utility payments, coordinate with city workers, and assist with community events to support city operations.
  • Lead by example: Work collaboratively with coworkers to deliver exceptional service and continuously strive for improvement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.

  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.

  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain NCIC/TCIC certification.

  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain TLETS/NLETS certification.

  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a TCOLE Basic Telecommunicator certification.

  • Must be able to work as a team during stressful situations and major events.
