PAX sapiens is a grantmaking and operating foundation whose mission is to prevent predictable global catastrophes. We use direct grantmaking and coordination tools such as convenings, conferences, and information-sharing systems to advance human security and sustainable peace. Primary Role:

Supporting four issue area program teams based in four offices and three countries, the Communications Program Manager / Associate Director will be a strategic thought partner and advanced project manager to support PAX sapiens’ strategic external and internal communications. An ideal candidate will have extensive experience in communications, marketing, and public relations for international relations, and/or one or more of the issue areas, as well as a background in supporting senior leaders to achieve strong and measurable communications impact.

Compensation:

The hiring range for this position is $93,500 – $96,760 per year.

Location:

This position is located at the PAX sapiens headquarters in Broomfield, CO. The PAX office operates on a hybrid in-office/work from home model with Tuesdays and Thursdays in-office.



Primary Responsibilities

  • In partnership with organization and issue area program leaders, support the overall strategy via highly impactful communications, marketing, and public relations strategies and tactics.
  • Support issue area programs to refine messaging and strategy in partnership with subject matter experts to help reach priority stakeholders and audiences to help achieve organizational strategic goals.
  • Core work includes website content and security maintenance, publication editing, design, layout, and production, social media strategy and posting, public relations, and other projects;
  • Managing the work of communication contractors including web design, editing, graphic design, and any additional contractors to execute PAX communication goals.
  • Support work with foundation staff to identify and place external media and op-eds that advance our communications goals.
  • Work with the Strategic Learning program on impact measurement and reporting.
  • Support Operations and Human Resources
  • Other duties as required.



Required Education, Knowledge, Skills and Competences

  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in Communications.
  • Bachelor's in Communication, Marketing or a related field. Or 10 years relevant experience in lieu of a Bachelors
  • Demonstrated project management experience and the ability to plan, budget, manage, and close projects on time and within budget.
  • Demonstrated experience in external organizational communications strategy and activities.
  • Deep familiarity with the full range of organizational communication role and capacities to a degree to allow the oversight of specialist contractor execution of these roles. This includes social media outlets and strategy, document editing, design, and layout, and web design.
  • Demonstrated experience working internationally and across cultures in culturally sensitive and appropriate ways.
  • Commitment to PAX’s mission and values.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience placing media pieces in high-impact outlets
  • Direct experience and an active professional network in a field relevant to PAX’s work, such as major donor philanthropy, US-China relationships, and/or pandemic prevention.
  • Networks or experience in multiple issue areas or across issues are particularly valued.

Physical Work Demands

  • Able to sit at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Able to bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis.
  • Able to lift and move up to 25 lbs regularly.
