Communications Specialist

The Communications Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing internal and external communication strategies that promote the organization’s brand, mission, and key initiatives. This role creates compelling content, ensures message consistency, coordinates print and digital materials, publishes content and supports engagement across multiple channels.

What you will do…

Content Development and Messaging

  • Create, edit, and publish high-quality content including news channel messages, intranet, emails (internal & external), newsletters, and website copy
  • Ensure messaging aligns with brand voice, tone, and organizational goals
  • Translate complex information into clear, engaging, and audience-friendly communications
  • Serve as key liaison to departments across the organization to maintain alignment, accuracy, and strategic communication

Internal Communications

  • Partner with senior leaders and the Strategic Coordinator on employee engagement initiatives
  • Support internal communication strategies to keep employees informed and engaged
  • Draft and publish all internal content
  • Plan and publish intranet content to ensure that it is informative, engaging, and up to date
  • Serve as the primary liaison with Facilities to ensure assets are delivered on time, in correct quantities, and to the right locations with clear instructions. Partner with Facilities to track inventory for routine materials and coordinate timely reorders to prevent shortages.
  • Manage end-to-end creation and publishing of critical alerts, ensuring timely detection, accurate messaging, and prompt posting across PEFCU Alerts Teams and Pulse. Provide updates as needed, publish member-facing communications, and ensure timely removal of outdated alerts.

External Communications

  • Partner with business leaders across the organization to support their external communication needs
  • Support marketing and communications campaigns from concept to execution
  • Ensure consistency of brand identity across all communication materials
  • Collaborate closely with the VP of Communications and Member Contact Center to proactively manage and maintain the communications calendar
  • Draft and publish critical alert messages at the direction of senior leaders

Vendor Management

  • Serve as the primary liaison with print vendors to oversee asset sharing, version control, materials proofing, and delivery of printed materials
  • Act as the main point person when working with 3rd party vendors to review campaign materials, coordinate data transfers, and removing members if they desire

Analytics & Reporting

  • Measure and report on communication effectiveness using data and insights
  • Use analytics tools to assess engagement and improve strategies
  • Prepare and publish monthly performance metrics

Project Management

  • Participate as the communications representative on low to medium level organizational projects
  • Lead or participate in various annual efforts such as Journey Calendars/Planners, Breast Cancer Awareness Month efforts, Financially Fresh efforts, etc.

    What you need....

    • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or related field preferred
    • 1 - 2 years of professional experience in communications, PR, or marketing preferred
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong editing and proofreading capabilities
    • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines
    • Basic knowledge of communications
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Ability to coordinate complex, multi-step tasks across multiple stakeholders and points of contact
    • Experience with email marketing tools
    • Experience supporting internal communications in a corporate environment
    • May require occasional after-hours support for events or urgent communications
