Compliance Director

You will lead and maintain a MAS-regulated compliance framework for Singapore, ensuring licence obligations are met and regulatory submissions are timely and accurate. You will act as the MLRO and DPO, provide pragmatic compliance advice to leadership, design risk-based monitoring and control testing, assess new products and token support, and partner with Technology and Operations on technology, cyber and operational resilience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and maintenance of Singapore compliance governance, strategy, policies, and control environment
  • Own and drive the MAS crypto custody licensing process and regulatory submissions
  • Serve as Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) and Data Protection Officer (DPO)
  • Manage regulatory engagement and act as primary liaison with MAS and APAC regulators
  • Maintain and enhance the financial crime and compliance control framework (AML/CFT, sanctions, fraud, bribery and corruption, conduct risk)
  • Design and implement a risk-based compliance monitoring programme including thematic reviews and control testing
  • Assess and approve new products, services, and token support decisions from a regulatory and financial crime perspective
  • Partner with Technology, Security, and Operations on technology risk management, cyber resilience, and operational resilience
  • Oversee compliance governance for outsourcing and third-party arrangements relevant to custody and operations

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of senior compliance experience in the 2nd line of defence within a licensed financial services firm in Singapore or in a consulting role supporting compliance
  • Experience liaising with MAS and expert knowledge of Singapore regulatory landscape, MAS obligations, notices and expectations
  • Proven experience in financial crime roles in the 2nd line of defence, including KYC, investigations, and control framework development
  • Hands-on approach comfortable being the sole compliance lead in Singapore and working into the detail in a fast-paced firm
  • Strong knowledge of AML/CFT legislation, sanctions regimes, and suspicious matter reporting
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills including board-level reporting
  • Digital asset knowledge and experience preferred but not essential
