About the Role:

The Compliance Manager is responsible for supporting the implementation and ongoing day-to-day operation of the compliance framework in Australia and New Zealand.
Working closely with the Head of Compliance, compliance analysts and business stakeholders, including Enterprise Risk Management and Internal Audit, the role supports and promotes an effective Three Lines of Defence model to foster a strong compliance and incident reporting culture with a focus on continuous improvement.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage and support the handling of compliance incidents and breaches, ensuring timely identification, investigation, resolution (rectification and remediation), and reporting in accordance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all incidents are recorded accurately in relevant systems and registers and support the collation of data for internal reporting and external reporting.
  • Coordinate breach reporting to regulators, including preparation of notifications and follow-up of remedial actions.
  • Liaise with business units to support timely and effective rectification and remediation of compliance incidents and provide insights to business units to support continual improvement to prevent recurrence.
  • Promote awareness of compliance incident reporting obligations and best practices across the business.
  • Support compliance reporting requirements, including preparation of regular reports and updates for management committees and the Board as required.
  • Provide compliance advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on day-to-day matters and business initiatives.
  • Assist with compliance risk assessments, control reviews, and the identification of gaps or emerging issues.
  • Assist with assurance reviews, including coordination of testing, review of findings, and tracking of remediation actions.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of systems and procedures to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, codes, and company policies.
  • Support the development and delivery of compliance training and communication programs.
  • Identify areas for improvement of processes and controls by identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, effectiveness and consistency across the business.
  • Work collaboratively with compliance, risk, and audit teams to enhance customer outcomes and business conduct.
  • Assist with the sanctions program including keeping up to date with relevant sanctions requirements.
  • Assist the First Line to assess the impact of regulatory changes and implement required changes to procedures and controls, and training requirements.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Tertiary qualifications in law, with additional qualifications in business, economics, commerce, accounting or financial services related discipline desirable.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience delivering compliance, risk, legal or internal audit outcomes, ideally within financial services or general insurance.
  • Experience leading workstreams, projects or cross-functional initiatives is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge and application of the regulatory and legal obligations applicable to general insurers in Australia and New Zealand, with the ability to interpret legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong understanding of breach reporting obligations under relevant requirements, including the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth),
  • General Insurance Code of Conduct and the Fair Insurance Code.
  • Demonstrated experience in compliance incident management, including investigation, rectification and remediation, and familiarity with compliance management systems and registers.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and relationship skills.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and adhere to deadlines.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively across business functions and at multiple levels within Chubb.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and adoption of technological solutions in compliance processes.
