Job Summary:
The Configuration/Data Manager IV provides leadership in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Configuration Management (CM) processes in accordance with AS9100, EIA-649, MIL-HDBK-61, and applicable contractual requirements. This position is responsible for maintaining configuration integrity through oversight of technical baselines, engineering changes, and documentation control, ensuring hardware, software, and technical data remain accurate, authorized, and fully traceable throughout the product life cycle.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement and maintain Configuration Management (CM) processes and procedures in compliance with AS9100, EIA-649, MIL-HDBK-61, company policies, and customer contractual requirements
- Manage and control hardware, software, and documentation baselines to ensure configuration integrity, accuracy, traceability, and consistency throughout the product lifecycle.
- Oversee configuration control activities, including creation, revision, review, and approval of engineering drawings, specifications, technical data packages (TDPs), and related documentation.
- Administer Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and change workflows to ensure proper evaluation, approval, implementation, and tracking of configuration changes.
- Create agendas, schedule, facilitate, and document Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings and associated action items.
- Author, maintain, and submit Configuration Management Plans (CMPs) in accordance with contractual requirements.
- Maintain CM databases, repositories, and records to ensure all configuration documentation remains current, accurate, and audit ready.
- Generate, analyze, and present configuration status accounting reports, change activity metrics, audit findings, and program data to leadership and quality teams.
- Participate in and support Functional Configuration Audits (FCA), Physical Configuration Audits (PCA), and internal/external compliance assessments.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, program management, and customer stakeholders to integrate configuration management requirements into program activities and decisions.
- Participate in design reviews, test readiness reviews, production readiness reviews, and other technical/program reviews as needed to ensure configuration management requirements are properly addressed.
- Track and coordinate submission of program SDRLs/CDRLs.
- Understanding of Data Item Descriptions (DIDs), MIL-STD formatting, and contract compliance requirements.
- Manage document templates and document control standards, including document numbering, revision tracking, headers/footers, and distribution statements.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and support to program teams on configuration management processes, tools, standards, and best practices.
- Provide leadership in managing multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment, and meeting deadlines without compromising quality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- 7 to 10 years of Configuration/Data Management experience in DoD, aerospace, or missile defense programs
- Knowledge of configuration management principles and standards, including AS9100, EIA-649, and MIL-HDBK-61.
- Experience with engineering PDM/PLM tools such as Windchill, Enovia 3D experience, Teamcenter, or SolidWorks PDM.
- Familiarity with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or Pro/Engineering.
- Proficient with MS Office products and Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to clearly communicate orally and in written form.
- Must be U.S. Citizen
- Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CMPIC or equivalent certification
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or related field is preferred; however, candidates with a minimum of 12 years of configuration/data management experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
