A well-established general contractor based in Tempe, AZ, specializing in high-quality hotel, retail, and commercial projects, is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to join its team.
The Project Manager will oversee all aspects of construction projects ranging from $5 million and $15 million, including ground-up construction of multi-level stories. This role will be responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hotel and commercial construction, with a keen eye for high-end finishes. This role involves developing and managing project budgets, creating detailed schedules, and overseeing resource allocation to ensure optimal execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and manage all phases of construction projects, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout.
- Establish project objectives, scope, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders, ensuring alignment with client requirements.
- Develop and manage project schedules and budgets to ensure cost efficiency and timely delivery.
- Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to monitor construction progress, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
- Oversee procurement processes, including bid evaluations, contract negotiations, and vendor selection.
- Conduct regular site inspections to assess project progress, identify risks, and ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain effective communication with project team members and stakeholders to provide updates, address concerns, and foster strong working relationships.
Your Tasks:
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource allocations, and procurement strategies.
- Evaluate and select contractors and subcontractors based on qualifications and cost-effectiveness.
- Monitor project progress, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and report on status to stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and legal requirements, prioritizing a safe working environment.
- Manage construction project documentation, including contracts, permits, and change orders.
- Conduct regular meetings to facilitate communication, address challenges, and meet project objectives.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- 5+ years of relevant experience in construction project management, with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes, and safety regulations (Arizona preferred)
- Excellent project management skills, including effective planning, organization, and prioritization
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documents, including project blueprints and construction schematics
- Strong leadership and communication skills to manage project teams and stakeholders
- Experience with construction management software and project scheduling tools
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- PMP, LEED or similar professional certification in project management or construction management
- Knowledge of risk management and budget management principles
- Experience in managing large-scale commercial construction projects
- Familiarity with sustainable construction practices and green building certifications
- Strong financial understanding and experience in project budgeting and cost control
Salary & Benefits: Compensation range is $90,000 - $150,000, and will be dependent on candidate’s qualifications and experience and may vary accordingly.
