About this position: Construction Superintendent in Norfolk, VA

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Management of task order projects in the Washington DC region
- Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.
- Ensure all projects are delivered on-time, within scope, within budget and in accordance with approved design and specifications.
- Communicate and ensure resource availability and allocation.
- Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs.
- Report and escalate to management as needed.
- Manage the relationship with the subcontractors.
- Perform risk management and quality control to minimize project risks.
- Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors and subcontractors.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
- Attend, facilitate, coordinate all required meetings and progress updates.
- Enforcing vendor and subcontractor contracts within the context of the project.
- Providing onsite project oversight and leadership of quality control, safety and risk mitigation.
- Responsible for developing, reviewing, and updating construction schedule, subcontractor management, scheduling equipment and material deliveries, and support in project close-out documentation and coordination as needed.
- Monitors and supports quality control, safety, and efficiency for construction operations.
- Interacts with management to document and monitor changes in construction procedures.
- Reviews drawings to address construction issues and ensures a good plan in advance.
- Recommending vendors and subcontractors for various projects, discussing and supporting project management in obtaining appropriate quotations as needed.
- Interfacing with the owner, internal design/build teams, and subcontractors to provide feedback as needed.
Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications
· Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED
· Level of Experience Requirements: N/A
- Previous Federal DoD contract experience
- Safety experience in multi-trade construction projects
- Experience enforcing corporate or site control programs.
- Have existing experience with Federal government & DoD customers in the MidAtlantic Region
- Current favorable National Agency Check with Inquiry (NACI), in accordance with AR 380-67
- Valid Driver’s License
- Previous experience working with 8(a) companies.
- OSHA 30 and QCM certificates
- Experience as a Superintendent, Safety Officer and Quality Control Manager on industrial or commercial projects
- Experience on projects exceeding $500,000 (specifically secure room construction and interior fit-out)
- Experience working with the USACE
- Must be US Citizen
- OSHA 30 Certification and Valid Driver’s License

- Written and Oral communication with customer, subcontractors, and internally to provide project updates.
- Knowledge of all aspects of a construction project (electrical, HVAC, Fire Alarm, Fire Suppression, architectural, etc.)
· Ability to read and communicate with subcontractors about drawings / prints.
· Knowledge of organizational procedures and workflows – understanding how work moves through a company.
· Basic knowledge of relevant technologies or tools – e.g., Microsoft 365, communication platforms, or industry‑standard software.
· Knowledge of customer service practices – principles of providing quality service and managing inquiries professionally.
· Knowledge of data privacy and confidentiality principles – awareness of proper handling of sensitive information.
· Communication skills (written and verbal) – ability to convey information clearly and professionally.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee often works in an office environment. The employee is required to visit job sites regularly and will be subject to a lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to stand, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. During visits to job sites, the employee may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervising onsite subcontractors and field employees.
DOT Covered/Safety-Sensitive Role Requirements
· This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety-sensitive” functions.
Additional Qualifying Factors
As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance levels required and must also be able to obtain access to military installations.
