Consultant- GIS
As a GIS Consultant at WSP, you will support the Transformation & Digital Insights team in delivering high‑quality geospatial services across multidisciplinary projects. You’ll design project geodatabases, publish/services, configure web and mobile GIS, automate workflows, and ensure quality. You’ll also contribute to methods, documentation, and outputs that meet project timelines, budgets, and client expectations. This position is ideal for someone looking to develop strong technical foundations and grow within a multidisciplinary digital environment.
▪ Provide day-to-day GIS support across project teams and business functions.
▪ Deliver mapping, analysis, geoprocessing, and data modelling in ArcGIS Pro.
▪ Design and implement project geodatabases; uphold data governance, QA/QC, and metadata standards.
▪ Produce high-quality maps, figures, charts, reports and documentation (SOPs/user guides).
▪ Publish/manage map, feature, and geoprocessing services (ArcGIS Enterprise/Online).
▪ Configure web GIS solutions (Experience Builder, Web AppBuilder, Sites/Hub, Dashboards, StoryMaps).
▪ Implement Field Maps/Survey123 forms and data collection workflows; integrate into data pipelines.
▪ Automate common tasks with Python/ArcPy and/or ModelBuilder.
▪ Carry out quality checks to ensure geospatial and content accuracy of own deliverables.
▪ Participate in professional development activities to maintain and improve skills.
▪ Support junior staff with reviews and informal mentoring; contribute to bids where applicable.
▪ Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support overseas/remote GIS staff coordination.
Essential Skills
▪ 5+ years of professional GIS experience with a track record of delivery.
▪ Proficiency across the Esri platform: ArcGIS Pro, Enterprise Geodatabases, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online.
▪ Solid geodatabase design and strong grasp of relational database concepts.
▪ Experience publishing/consuming services and administering items/permissions.
▪ Working knowledge of Python/ArcPy for analysis/automation; ModelBuilder familiarity.
▪ Web GIS configuration experience (Experience Builder, Dashboards, StoryMaps, Sites/Hub).
▪ Familiarity with field data collection (Field Maps, Survey123).
▪ Effective stakeholder communication; documentation and presentation skills.
▪ Proficient with Microsoft 365 and project/task tools (e.g., Jira).
Desirable Skills
▪ Programming: SQL, ArcGIS Python, Arcade.
▪ ETL and data modelling using FME.
▪ CAD/BIM integration (Revit, Civil 3D) and Raster analytics.
▪ Experience with UK authoritative datasets.
▪ Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in GIS, Geography, or a related geospatial discipline.
▪ 5+ years of demonstrable experience working in GIS or a closely related technical field.
▪ Membership of a relevant professional institution (desirable).
