Technical Supervisor

BGIS is recruiting for a Technical Supervisor to support operations at a prestigious static site in London. The successful candidate will provide technical support and assistance to the Technical Manager and wider engineering teams, ensuring operational performance, compliance standards and engineering excellence are consistently delivered.
The role will support the Senior Authorised Person for High Voltage and Low Voltage electrical networks across the contract and requires strong knowledge of mechanical plant systems and public health infrastructure. The Technical Supervisor will also support the ongoing development of the electrical AP scheme, BGIS operating procedures, major projects and critical maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Technical Manager in delivering technical supervision across the contract
- Support all HV/LV activities ensuring compliance with BGIS HV/LV rules and procedures
- Ensure statutory and code compliance is maintained across all sites
- Support risk management processes and ensure consistent delivery across engineering operations
- Identify team development opportunities and support training and progression plans
- Operate as an Appointed Person (AP) for High Voltage systems
- Support mechanical systems management to AP level
- Update and maintain SSOW, EOP and SOP documentation for mechanical and HV/LV systems
- Provide technical guidance and support to engineering teams
- Plan intrusive maintenance activities and complete impact assessments
- Liaise closely with client engineering and infrastructure teams
- Support project and maintenance activities affecting MEP infrastructure
- Investigate operational incidents and support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) processes
- Attend operational and engineering meetings as required
- Promote BGIS management systems and engineering processes across the contract
- Escalate contractual or operational concerns to senior management where required
- Manage specialist subcontractors including HV/LV, generators and EMS providers
- Manage LOTO procedures and permit systems
- Support energy efficiency initiatives and sustainability improvements across the site
- Manage AP and site test equipment calibration requirements
- Deputise for the Technical Manager when required
- Promote and maintain BGIS core values and professional standards
Knowledge & Skills
- Electrically qualified to NVQ Level 3 minimum
- HNC qualified or equivalent preferred
- Strong understanding of inspection and testing procedures
- Knowledge of mechanical systems including chillers, cooling towers and closed water systems
- Experience with generators, ATS, STS and UPS systems
- Knowledge of controls systems including BMS, PMS, EMS, PLC and lighting controls
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and engineering compliance requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Computer literate with strong organisational and reporting skills
Experience Required
- Supervisory or leadership experience within a hard services or critical environment
- Practical HV/LV switching experience across complex infrastructure
- Experience managing specialist contractors and technical service providers
- Strong technical background across commercial electrical and mechanical building services systems
Desirable
- Experience delivering wider FM services
- Working towards EngTech or Chartered Engineer status
- Experience conducting appraisals and supporting team development
