Control Panel & System Architect
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Control Panel & System Architect with strong expertise in mechanical design, electromechanical integration, and engineering infrastructure development. This role combines mechanical engineering expertise with system-level design, product development, manufacturability, and validation activities to support large-scale engineering programs, product platforms, and manufacturing readiness. The engineer will own and support mechanical architecture development of MUI control panel asset design and asset roadmap, structural and product integration, and engineering support activities across R&D and validation environments.
Responsibilities
- Drive and lead the control panel roadmap definition and execution, including architecture standardization, design scalability, and implementation across programs to ensure alignment with product requirements, manufacturing readiness, and long-term roadmap goals
- Develop and maintain mechanical designs for control panels, electrical enclosures, racks and hinges, control panel overlay, and integrated electromechanical systems supporting engineering validation and manufacturing activities
- Design and implement mechanical layouts, sheet metal structures, mounting systems, cable routing features, and serviceability features for industrial and engineering applications
- Perform 3D CAD modeling, detailed drawing creation, tolerance analysis, and design documentation for mechanical assemblies and production release
- Work closely with electrical, FW, and software engineers to ensure robust mechanical and electromechanical integration across systems
- Support prototype builds, engineering bring-up, debugging, root-cause analysis, and corrective action implementation for mechanical and system-level issues
- Drive DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) improvements to optimize manufacturability, reliability, cost, and serviceability
- Collaborate with suppliers, fabrication vendors, and manufacturing teams on fabrication feasibility, tolerance control, material selection, and quality improvement activities
- Support regulatory and compliance requirements related to mechanical safety, industrial standards, grounding, spacing, environmental considerations, and enclosure protection requirements where applicable
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, BOM, mechanical design guidelines, assembly procedures, validation reports, and engineering references
- Support manufacturing transfer activities including pilot builds, process validation, fixture reviews, and production issue resolution
