Cook
Position Summary: We are looking for an individual that has a passion for cooking and pride themselves in preparing meals that not only taste delicious but are prepared in a timely manner. The ideal candidate must take direction well and multi-task effectively. Prior experience in a kitchen is preferred. We are looking for both full and part-time cooks.
Position Tasks:
- Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
- Prepare chef inspired recipes
- Ensure great plated presentation
- Maintain a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash etc.
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
- Monitor and maintain appropriate food temperatures, stock, and notify management to effectively maintain stock
- Properly store, rotate, label, and manage all food to state and company guidelines
- Label and stock all ingredients on shelves to ensure organization and accessibility
- Perform other kitchen duties as assigned
- Make suggestions to the management for the benefit of the kitchen
- Ability to adapt to changing menus
- Available to work afternoons, evenings, weekends, and special events on and off premises
- These tasks may develop and evolve as the company grows and needs change
Position Qualifications:
- Proven experience as cook preferred but not required
- Experience in using cutting utensils, cookware and bakeware
- Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods
- Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Effective communication skills
- Positive attitude and ability to work under pressure
- Excellent physical condition and stamina
- High school diploma or equivalent; training from a culinary school is a plus
- Knowledge of health and kitchen safety rules
- Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils
- A Level 1 food safety certificate is desired.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 35 lbs. and occasionally lift/move 160 lbs.
