Position Summary:
The Counselor is responsible for providing direct clinical services to individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges. This role conducts assessments, develops treatment plans, provides individual and group counseling, coordinates care, and supports clients throughout their recovery journey.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills, professionalism, empathy, and a passion for helping individuals achieve meaningful and lasting change.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Counseling & Case Management: Provide individual counseling sessions, conduct assessments, and develop individualized treatment plans that align with the client’s needs and recovery goals.
- Crisis Intervention: Manage crisis situations effectively, using de-escalation techniques and professional standards to support clients.
- Referral Coordination: Refer clients to appropriate mental health resources or higher levels of care as needed, facilitating connections with community services.
- Client Advocacy: Advocate for clients with various stakeholders, including courts, schools, treatment centers, and other services to coordinate care and monitor progress.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain precise and up-to-date client records, including assessments, case notes, and treatment summaries, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with program standards.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors or Masters degree required.
- Licensing: Candidates must hold at least one of the following active licenses: LPC/LSW OR LISW-S, LPCC-S
- Experience: 1 year of relevant experience in mental health and/or addiction counseling.
- Skills:
- Competency in diagnosing and treating mental health and/or substance use disorders.
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Organizational skills with attention to detail and confidentiality.
