EDEC 233-003/004. Indigenous Education.
Description: An exploration of Indigenous knowledge and pedagogy, primarily in Canada but also world-wide. Consideration of the diverse social, cultural, linguistic, political, and pedagogical histories of Indigenous communities. Examines how a teacher's professional identity and practice can be influenced by an understanding of Indigenous knowledge and worldviews.
This course is not Team taught or offered online.

Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs):
Education:
1.A Master’s degree (in exceptional circumstances applicants without a Master’s degree but with significant research or professional experience related to the course content may be considered);
Experience:
1.Expert knowledge of course content.
2.Experience working in or with Indigenous communities.
3.Knowledge of the Quebec Education program (QEP).
4.Familiarity with the professional competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation.
5.Previous successful teaching similar course(s) to pre-service teachers.
6.Experience teaching in the Quebec elementary/secondary school system.
Other:
1.A commitment to working with a team of committed and engage instructors.
2.Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of the course start date.
