The Opportunity:
Everest is seeking an Underwriter to join the Credit and Political Risk team in London. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to a well established portfolio, supporting underwriters across a broad range of transactions while developing expertise across key segments within the CPR market.

Team Overview:
The Credit and Political Risk team at Everest is a core specialty business within Global Wholesale and Specialty, with underwriting hubs in London, the US and Singapore.

The team is a highly regarded lead market with deep expertise across sovereign risk, structured credit, political risk and complex asset-backed exposures. With more than a decade of underwriting history at Everest, the portfolio is well established and diversified, with a strong track record of disciplined underwriting and market credibility.

The platform continues to see strong demand and is well positioned for further growth, supported by continued investment in talent and capability. This is an opportunity to join a collaborative and experienced team, working across a broad range of countries, industries and asset classes, with the ability to build capability and develop technical expertise over time.

What you will be doing:

  • Support the underwriting of a broad portfolio of credit and political risk business across sovereign risk, structured credit, political risk, project finance and asset-backed transactions

  • Analyse transactions and assist in assessing credit and sovereign risk, ensuring alignment with underwriting appetite

  • Contribute to pricing and structuring of deals using appropriate analytical tools and frameworks

  • Prepare and document underwriting analysis, including financial modelling, credit assessments and risk summaries

  • Support the negotiation of policy terms and wordings in collaboration with senior underwriters and legal teams

  • Build and maintain relationships with global banking clients, financial institutions and brokers

  • Attend client meetings and market engagements to support business development activity

  • Monitor portfolio performance and contribute to maintaining a well diversified and profitable book

  • Participate in internal discussions on underwriting strategy, market trends and risk appetite

  • Work closely within a collaborative team environment, developing technical capability and market knowledge

What we are looking for:

  • Experience within credit and political risk, or a relevant background in banking, structured finance, or reinsurance

  • Exposure to asset classes such as structured credit, project finance, or asset-backed finance

  • Strong analytical capability with the ability to review financial information and assess credit risk

  • Interest in sovereign risk, geopolitical factors and complex international transactions

  • Ability to translate analysis into clear and structured underwriting recommendations

  • Commercial awareness and an interest in developing client and broker relationships

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple transactions in a fast-paced environment

  • Collaborative approach with a willingness to learn and develop within a high-performing team

  • A degree in finance, economics or a related discipline is beneficial but not essential
