PROFESSIONAL SCHOOL CUSTODIAN


Department: OPERATIONS

JOB TITLE: Professional School Custodian

250 –Day Contract

REPORTS TO: Chief Custodial Manager


REQUIREMENTS:

Education Level: High School diploma or its equivalent

Experience Desired: Minimum of 1 year prior custodial experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Good physical health including ability to lift 75 pounds, climb to high and difficult places and work at those places.
  • Requires constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination, standing and walking.
  • Frequent bending, carrying, hearing lifting and stooping.
  • Occasional climbing and crawling.
  • Follow safety protocols for cleaning chemical and equipment usage.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to understand and carry out both verbal and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to learn how to use cleaning equipment. (carpet cleaner, floor scrubber, floor buffer/stripper/burnisher, etc.)


Working Conditions: Occasionally subjected to mechanical and electrical hazards, extreme temperatures and humidity, atmospheric conditions occasionally include fumes and dust, caution necessary to avoid harm from misuse of

chemicals.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

  • Sweeps, dusts, arranges furniture, empties trash and pencil sharpeners, cleans chalkboards and sets for activities.
  • Washes walls, woodwork and windows, and cleans and polishes metal surfaces. Cleans and maintains hard and soft surface floors.
  • Wet mops and spot clean hard and soft surface floors. Cleans, sanitizes and deodorizes restrooms and locker rooms
  • Observes and reports needed repair of equipment, furnishings, fixtures, building and site
  • Assists with set ups and removals for school activities
  • Operates security systems and secures building at the conclusion of shift
  • Works a revised schedule and substitutes for other custodial staff when necessary
  • Performs other duties assigned by Supervisor of Operations
  • Evaluation: Annual evaluation performed by Supervisor of Operations
