Customer Engineer, Google Cloud Security

You liaise with the product marketing management and engineering teams to stay on top of industry trends and devise enhancements to Google Cloud products.

As a Customer Engineer (CE) for Google Cloud Security, you serve as the technical bridge between our most innovative security technologies and our customers' most complex business challenges. You are not just a technical advisor; you are a strategic partner to the Sales team, responsible for articulating the unique value proposition of Google Cloud’s security ecosystem.

  • Act as the primary technical advisor, partnering with Sales to build and execute account strategies that win trust and drive adoption of Google Cloud Security solutions.
  • Design creative, scalable, and resilient security architectures that map directly to our customers’ specific business goals and operational challenges.
  • Lead technical validations, including Proofs of Concept (PoC) and technical deep-dives, proactively identify and remove roadblocks to ensure project success.
  • Serve as an expert storyteller who can translate complex cybersecurity concepts into compelling, practical business outcomes for both technical practitioners and executive stakeholders.
  • Partner with product development stakeholders to refine product capabilities, contributing technical insights that optimize performance and market relevance.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in a technical environment, including 5 years in a customer-facing technical pre-sales or solutions architecture role
  • 8 years of experience with modern SOC stack (e.g., SIEM, SOAR, NDR, EDR, UEBA and Threat Intelligence).
  • Experience in gathering business requirements, facilitating whiteboarding sessions, and delivering technical presentations to stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a technical field.
  • Certificated in the Cloud or Security industry (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Security Engineer).
  • Experience working with, evaluating, or securing AI agents, Generative AI models, or LLM-driven applications in an enterprise context.
  • Experience implementing complex enterprise security solutions (e.g., advanced threat hunting, Zero Trust architectures, Identity and Access Management systems).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in coding or scripting (e.g., Python, Go) and experience with log parsing, data normalization, and automation logic.
  • A knack for troubleshooting complex, multi-layered cybersecurity environments and a rigorous approach to technical roadblocks.
