Customs Support Specialist - Declarant


Role Purpose


Ensure that the computation of duties and taxes, entry lodgment, classifying and compiling of entries (through the use of available system) is completed in a timely and accurate manner for incoming shipments.

Apply the principle of Risk Management in ensuring compliance in International Trade rules, including the enforcement of Philippine regulations and legislations.

Key Tasks and Accountabilities


DGF Customers

  • Portray a professional, courteous and helpful attitude in all dealings with internal and external customers
Imports Department, Customer Service, Sales, Finance, Operations
  • Provide finance department with guidelines in relation to the payment and collection of duties and taxes
  • Assist other departments with technical advice or presentations as required
Customs Authorities
  • Liaise with Customs to resolve disputes / claims / queries.
Customs Clearance Management
  • Examine documents covering the declarations and the documents accompanying it.
  • Ensure that entries are cleared up in accordance with Customs compliance agreements
  • Prioritize the clearance flow in order to achieve fastest transit time possible
  • Ensure that correct computation of duties and taxes and lodgment declarations are made on behalf of customers, whilst satisfying the legislation set by customs, VAT laws and other regulatory agencies.
  • Prepares Import Entry and ensures correctness of details
  • Inform superior on significant changes or request of clients that will affect operation.
  • Monitors latest tariff rulings & classifications issued by Tariff Commission and Bureau of Customs, as well as BOC’s latest CMO issuance and circular.

Skills / Qualifications

Education Level/ Certification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Customs Administration
  • Licensed Customs Broker

Expected Years of Experience

  • Minimum 2-3 years of related experience

Skills

  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Software skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Tariff Classification skills ( General Interpretative Rules)
  • Ability to take ownership and proactively address topics
  • Ability to handle multiple and hanging priorities
